It's almost a basketball design, except for the front end isn't.
You have the angled wheels which make it turn better and more stable.
When you're going fast and you hit a turn
if the wheels are up like this, it'd tip over like a bar stool, so this makes it more stable.
This wheel wants to go this way, that wheel wants to go that way, and away we go.
Player 2: My chair is pretty much the same concept, it's made by Colors in Motion.
Basically the way it's set up is that we have our tires angled out like this
so that way since we don't have the lateral movement with our legs
we can pivot with the chair like this,
that's why the tires are more like this.
The reason I strap into my chair that way,
I'm strapped strong with my chair,
so that way I'm all together with the chair.
So when I move, my body's not going this way and the chair's going that way.
It's all in synch.
Because in wheelchair tennis a lot of the time,
once you hit the ball you've got to be ready for the next shot.
Because if you wait to move after the ball is hit, especially with one of the top players,
when they hit the ball with a lot of top spin,
once the ball is hit, and then you try to move
a lot of times its hard to hit the ball.
So, a lot of the chairs are pretty sporty.
You know, my feet are tucked in
so that way when I'm swinging this way, it's not hitting my legs.
He's got a different set up, but it's pretty much the same concept.
We've got a fifth wheel in the back. That way we can pivot.
Right there, the fifth wheel.
That way it gives a little more stability with the chair. So we're able to pivot.
Actually with the fifth wheel, when you serve
you're able to get more power into your serve
because you've go that fifth wheel to lean back on.
Which gives a little bit of leverage since we don't have the leg strength.
We can use the fifth wheel as a little bit more leverage when you're serving.
