Hi, welcome to this week's "Spread the Love." This week, we are at the California State
Thespians Festival. I'm here, I'm at the table, I'm out teaching, I'm doing workshops, I'm
judging, and I am meeting students and teachers who have done some of our plays. And I am
thrilled beyond belief that Mary has come up to the table, and Mary has done a production
of "Much Ado High School." "Much Ado High School" is a version of "Much Ado About Nothing."
It's modern, and I wrote it so that it may be done on a blank stage. Everything takes
place at a high school dance. So, everybody is-it's all done in modern, So, Mary? Hi!
Okay Mary, tell me what you love about "Much Ado High School."
I love the script, the script was just phenomenal. Just the interpretation from Shakespeare Language
to modern language was just phenomenal. Lindsay's script was just fantastic. I came across it,
my teacher recommended it, she said "This is a really funny script; perfect for middle
schoolers. It's simple staging, it's simple, you know, set, it's not really a big of a
deal." And I just went with it, and it turned out beautifully.
Awesome, awesome. And then we also have somebody here. What's your name?
My name's Amy. Hey, Amy! And you saw the play?
I did! I'm Mary's really good friend, so it's like, of course I'm going to go support her,
you know? And I went, and I absolutely loved it. You know, usually you'll see some shows,
and you're like "Uhh." But this one, the whole time, I was just like, in love, I laughed
like no other, I practically peed my pants and that's okay.
And what were your favorite characters? Okay, there were these two nerd girls. Everyone
you know is freaking out, and they're just on their laptops, doing their own thing. It's
really cool, I loved it. Awesome. Thank you very much. Mary, thank
you so much for coming by. And-that's it for "Spread the Love." Thanks!
