Hello out there. My name is Ralph Duncans. I was born in Ann Arbor, Michigan. I lived most of my life in Venice, California. I am now living in Wakayama City. I am a YouTube partner. I have lived in Japan for over 16 years.
This is my video on Japan is genki.Ok. I am standing on the corner of Midosuji, which is this street. It goes north and south. Nagahori Dori goes east and west. Of course most has heard about the earthquake in Japan.
And I just want to let you know in this south part of Osaka is called Kansai. Japan is very, very, very genki and everybody in this area is doing very good. The earthquake didn’t have an effect in this area. We did feel it. As you can see it is the week… it’s not the weekend. Today is Monday. Everyone is out doing their thing and having fun.
This is Midosuji at night. During the daytime it is like this too, but evidently the lights are turned off. Please come out and visit Osaka City. There are a lot of things to do here, lots of shopping to do and great places to eat.
Where that building is called OPA. Right here “OPA”. Ok. This building is where Shinsaibashi station is. It is a very famous train station. This is where everybody meets up. As you exit the station, next to it there is a hotel Hotel Nikko Osaka). You cannot miss it. It is a tall white building.
If you walk towards the closest major intersection you will come to the corner where I am standing now. Look across the street. You will see these buildings. Turn left and go to the next light and turn right.
In that area over there where I am pointing there are many places to eat, nice bars, and the staff dressed nice. Lots of people patronize that area. There are many rich and business people patronizing that area too. I want to stress something.
Many Japanese people are shy to speak English, but many of them know English. Just speak clearly and at a slower pace. Some of them speak other languages too. When you come here don’t forget to make business connections. Talk to the men and women.
You may become surprised by the amount of people who have their own businesses. You can meet them in Bars. While walking down the streets you will see lots of Maseratis, Aston Martins, and other luxury cars. Just about every kind of luxury car passes by these streets.
You can just walk down the street and see someone in a car and just say, “Hi.” You would be surprised. Some of them will talk to you. You can ask them about places to go and/or eat. Some will stop and suggest places to go.
Those are the people who know the area well and can suggest restaurants, upscale clubs, shopping areas, and sightseeing places too. Most tourists are in their hotels by 8 pm. Don’t go to your hotel rooms.
Most tourists are in their hotels by 8 pm. Don’t go to your hotel rooms. Get out and walk up and down the streets. The streets are busy until about 11:30 or 12 am when the last train runs. Lots of people go home at one of those times. Enjoy yourself till most people return home. By this time you should be tired and then go to your room.
This street leads towards Kyobashi. There are lots of things to see. Another thing about Osaka. Another thing about Osaka is the transportation system is great.

You do not need to read Japanese. The train lines are all color-coded and each stop is assigned a number. It is very user friendly. For instance the subway line that travels beneath Misosuji Dori is the red line. If you have a map you will see how easy it is to use.
The railway staff is very kind and courteous. They will assist you promptly.
While you are visiting, the best thing to do is talk to the people you see. Some will talk to you other will not. The reason is that many people are just too busy to talk. This should not be taken as a sign of disrespect nor xenophobia. People in Japan are busy.
You see these buildings. From the outside, for instance the OPA building is not very impressive, but on the inside is incredibly beautiful. It’s like walking into another world. It is like going scuba diving. Form the outside the ocean looks plain. Below t
Women of all ages dress very nice in Osaka. The men dress in suits of other fashions. Osaka is very clean. Japan is a clean country. Osaka is very safe. You do not have to worry about anything. If you run into a problem just ask someone to point you to a police station (KOBAN).
Directly below me is a shopping mall. It is called Crystal. If you go south on Midosuji Dori you will come to Namba station. Below Namba station is a shopping mall. It is huge and you can do lots of shopping to do.
“Hello. How are you? (Some one in a car waved). As you just heard, people wave and say Hi. I say “Hi,” in return.
Just go inside to the buildings. They are very interesting. There are many hotels around. They are reasonably priced around 60 dollars a night.
Some of my subscribers and friends have visited Japan because of my videos. The ones who did come here had a great time. Some of them came back for seconds. I still communicate with them.
Osaka is doing very well. If you will fly into Kansai International Airport, you can board the Nankai railway to Namba station.
If you need tour guide I have a friend who can you around if she has time. Her English is poor so bring a book or translate things you may want to say into Japanese. I would love to take you around but I have to work. If I have time I will take you around. Sometimes I have time. My friend knows just about everything concerning Osaka.
If you come out and we have time, I will hangout with you. Please let me know in advance. I have taken my subscribers to different cities Kobe, Nara, and Kyoto. We can go by train it is very cheap and convenient and lots of fun. The food is great. Please come out and have fun.
