This tutorial is going to be a crochet star
this star was made with size ten crochet cotton, and a size nine steel crochet hook
for the tutorial, I am going to be using a size 0 steel crochet hook
this is the thread I will be using for the tutorial, I will be attaching a slip knot to the crochet hook
take the loose end, wrap it over the main strand, now you have a loop
now you have a loop, take the loop
wrap it over the main strand
put your hook below the center strand, back up the opposite side
this creates the slip knot
we will work c chain of sixty...one
two
three
four
five
six
seven...eight
nine...ten
continue on until you have a chain of sixty
i had completed my chain
make sure the chain is not twisted
you will join
with the beginning to change, putting your hook
through the first chain
wrap the thread over, pull through, pull through the loop on the hook
now I am going to make a chain one, this will not count as a stitch
we will have three sides
there will be nineteen double crochet on each
side and then there will be
a corner
in the twentieth stitch
so this will be the first
working the first double crochet...one
two
three
four....five
six
seven....eight
nine....ten
eleven
twelve
thirteen
fourteen
I am crocheting right over the beginning tail
fifteen
sixteen
seventeen
eighteen
nineteen
in the next, chain will work five double crochet...one
two
three...four...five
we have completed the first side
the five double crochet
the two remaining sides will be the same
you will work
one double crochet in each
of the next nineteen chains
five double crochet in the corner
one double crochet in each of the nineteen
five double crochet in the corner at the end
and then join
I am back around to the beginning
working
five double crochet
in the final chain
two
three
four....five
join with the beginning stitch, putting your hook
below the two loops at the top of the stitch, wrap the yarn over pull through
pull through the loop on the hook
you've completed the first section
we have three points, five double crochet in each point
nineteen double crochet on each flat side
i'm going to cut, and I am cutting a little bit extra
I will need this
for sewing
the star together later
wrap the thread over
pull through
I am going to set this off to the side for a minute
we will be working with the second chain
of sixty
it will be made the same way as the first chain
I have completed the chain
now I am going to put my
chain through the center of this previous
section i want to make sure there are no twists
before I join
once all the twists are out of your chain
you will go ahead and join with the beginning chain
wrapping the thread over
pull through both loops
work the chain one, that is optional, If you don't want to work the chain one, you don't have to
I am going to work
the first
double crochet
and one double crochet
in each
chain across, there'll be a total of nineteen, and it will be made the same way
the only difference is we have it looped around
this previous piece
so it may be a little awkward at times
do the best that you can
I am working my last five double crochet...one...two
three....four
we will join with the first stitch, putting your hook below the two loops at the top
of the stitch, wrap the thread over, pull through
pull through the loop on the hook
and this is what we have
and you do want to make sure the everything is
laying flat
this one should be flat, this is the first one that we did, then we looped this one
through, since it looks
alright
I am going to go on ahead here and cut off
the thread
and then pull it through, like this
give it a little tug
I need to put the segments
in place
what I am going to do is start out like this
this is what we have
and i'm going to take
this corner
and put it underneath
like this
running my needle to the back side
I am going to pick up
the edges and
sew them together
like this, and I know it may be challenging to see
go back up to the front
I am going to go to the back side
I am going to make a little knot right here
I am going to weave between the stitches
and putting myself over here
to the next
to the next cross section to sew together
I am going to lay this down like this
these are attached
I have one...two...three
that have been attached
i'm going to rearrange these a little bit
I'm going to take my needle and
hold this in place
while I am sewing it
and then run my needle up
to the top
and then make a couple stitches
to hold everything in place
then go to the back side like that
i'm going to make a couple of stitches right here
hold everything in place
remove my needle
I am going to make a knot right here
and weave between the stitches to the next
cross section
you continue doing this
until you have all six
cross-sections complete
and each of these is what I am calling a cross-section
they cross over each other
you'll have six total
when they are all sewn together
you will hide the tail
between the stitches
and then cut it off
if you're going to be using your star as an ornament
you will want to follow my tutorial
on how to stiffen into it
