Sublimating an image onto a polyester coated mug
Create your design using the correct supplier template and print
Cut away any excess paper around your design
If the design has areas of white the template should have printed a black bounding box around it
Make sure that this box is cut away to prevent black lines appearing on the mug
Place the transfer face down and attach heat tape to the sides
Turn the transfer over and place the mug in the centre of the design
Wrap the transfer around the mug so the top edge of the transfer paper lines up to the top edge of the mug
Make sure the transfer is completely central and press down one side of the heat tape
Smooth out the paper around the mug to make sure it is tightly wrapped and press down the heat tape on the other side
Turn on the mug press and the temperature will rise to the correct setting
For detailed instructions see the 'Setting of the mug press' video
Once the press is ready, slide the mug into position leaving the equal amount of the heat element showing above and below the mug
Using hight pressure pull the handle to tighten the element around the mug
Press the 'Start' button on the mug press
The temperature will initially drop before coming back to 185 degrees working temperature
Once this temperature has been reached the time will start counting down from the set time
When the timer has counted down a warning sound will amit and you can open the press and remove the mug
Remove the transfer paper quickly
The mug is extremely hot and should be handled with great care
Lower the mug into a container of water to quickly cool
This prevents the ink continuing the sublimation process and blurring the image
Your mug is complete
