\f0\fs20 \cf0 My name is Christopher Anderson and I work with LexisNexis which is a large
company that serves the legal industry and has done so for quite some time. LexisNexis
has a research division, a software division, a risk division and some other businesses
as well all focused at helping the lawyers and the legal industry serve their clients
better and better focus on their practices. I work with a product called LexisNexis Firm
Manager, which is a web-based application aimed at helping small law firms, one, two,
three lawyer firms stay on top of their practice, run their practice more like a business and
better serve their clients at the same time. Firm Manager is a part of a suite of products
in the law firm practice management division that help law firms of all sizes do this,
but LexisNexis Firm Manager was built specifically for the smallest of law firms, it's web-based
to give them access to their information anytime and anywhere they need it. LexisNexis Firm
Manager helps attorneys by giving them one look into their practice. When they wake up
in the morning, and access Firm Manager, they get one picture that shows them where they
need to be, what they need to be doing, what they need to work on and when it's due and
this gives them the orientation they need to then get on with their day. When clients
call or when they need to access information about a case, all the information about that
specific case is also in one place that they can quickly click through and find the key
pieces of information. For law firms' clients, LexisNexis Firm Manager provides a portal
called client center. This enables clients to log on and access information that the
attorney has intentionally shared with the client to give them the information that they
need on their case, whether it's documents, appointments, tasks that are going on, to
give them the full picture of what's going on on their case without them having to call
the law firm and wait for a call back. As product manager for Firm Manager one of my
main jobs is to get out and talk to attorneys - and in listening to them and also from my
experience in 16 years of practice, I know that two things that bother attorneys most
are they stay up or wake up at night wondering if they're going to miss a deadline and also
worrying about whether they're going to get paid for their work. Firm Manager gives them
all of their deadlines, everything that's going on in a case available to them anywhere
they are so they can check on that and feel more comfortable that they're going to meet
those deadlines. It also helps them track their time and expenses in a timely manner
so that they can get their bills out to their clients when the work's been done and get
paid more quickly.}
