This chick was not part of any exhibit. It was randomly walking around near a hen.
The main reason, that I had to record it, was that of a childhood memory.
I remember being in a fair, I couldn't be more than 6 years old.
This guy was giving away baby chicks. They were all in a box, not really sure of the
size, but that wasn't a consideration of mine at that moment.
All I could see was this little yellow bird that looked like the most amazing thing in
the world. Other children probably thought the same thing, since they were crazy over
them.
Well, I was joined that choir...
I didn't want a new bike, a new game, or anything else, all I wanted was a baby chick.
I had already picked a name:
Wilbur VI. Defender of the Faith, Sovereign of the Most Honourable Order of the Bath.
Knight Grand Cross of the Order of the Phoenix
I could already see the other children in the neighborhood throwing away all their toys,
marching in the street demanding a chick like mine. Going as far as starting their own Children's
Crusade to obtain it.
With all that excitement, my mother said no.
My dreams were wrecked and my heart broken. That little yellow bird was never to become
my friend. I would never see him again...
