Warm water discharges like this one are found all over the country; and I'll tell you a
little secret, they can be fish holding magnets. Most are adjacent to power plants that not
only generate warmer water but also current, which attract many game fish species. Position
your boat in the current and thoroughly work the adjacent seams and available cover. A
jig combination is tough to beat because it allows you to fish the entire water column
and change your retrieve based on the mood of the fish. Pop it, swim it, or drag it.
Fish typically move in and out of these areas, so continually re-position your boat to stay
on active fish. I was holding the boat on the edge of the current seam and flipping
into the cover right on the edges. Remember most discharges have restricted areas, so
be respectful and stay out of closed water.
