Here are some tips on how to properly use trekking poles.
First you'll want to find the right length. To adjust your poles, you'll want to loosen the
locking system, slide the shaft to the desired length and then tighten.
To find that desired length, you'll grab the grip
and let your arm hang loosely at your side.
Ideally, your elbow will make a ninety degree angle,
with your forearm parallel to the ground.
Now, you'll want to go with a slightly longer pole length when you're traveling
downhill, and a little bit shorter when you're traveling uphill.
To use the strap properly,
a lot of people just reach in and grab the grip.
Ideally, you would reach up through the strap
and then grab the grip. This allows you to put pressure on the polls
without actually holding the grip with your hand, which reduces
hand and finger fatigue.
Once you're holding it properly, you can then adjust the strap
to make sure it fits snugly around your wrist.
Now, whether you already use trekking poles or you're considering buying them, I hope this
