Zenit is a team that I have known since childhood.
It is a team which, for me,
was always an embodiment of sports in St. Petersburg,
always associated with the fact that we have
this one team, and that it’s ours.
The ‘Hands of support’ project interested me
because it was an opportunity to express myself
and to make something interesting and beautiful,
which will be seen by millions of people.
I am a renovator, a cabinetmaker,
a sculptor, a carver, a designer and a lot of things at once.
An artist. An artist working with wood.
I have been drawing since early childhood,
since I was around three years old.
As long as I remember myself,
I have always been drawing. Always.
I am probably an artist in my soul.
I wouldn’t keep working if art wasn’t a part of it.
I came to the ‘Petrovsky’ stadium for the first time
about ten years ago,
without being that enthusiastic
and I wasn’t an especially big football fan,
but when I found myself on the stands,
this wave literally came over me.
Because when you see that everybody stands for one thing,
everybody is united,
everybody is rooting – you can’t stay indifferent.
Now I go to matches voluntarily and with great pleasure.
Football for me is not only a game.
I spend a lot of time playing with the guys.
I never played professionally,
but I always liked spending time with that ‘round thing’.
For me it is difficult to find a more dynamic and beautiful sport,
as it is always entertaining and always different.
In my letter production process,
I was basing my work on the classical art of forgery,
inspired above all by the city.
I wanted to use a typical to St. Petersburg style of forging,
which was born here in the city’s three hundred year existence.
I sincerely love this city,
I lived here for 12 years and I can’t stop admiring it.
It is a constant source of inspiration for me.
I do not only love my work – I respect it.
When you treat your job with respect
and yearn for it, everything works out.
It works out on it’s own.
There is nothing genius or mystical
about it – simply a desire to work, an interest.
This is what attracts me to my work,
a desire to create something that before me, Sergey,
nobody has ever done. My work doesn’t repeat itself.
We do our work well, with beauty.
The guys who play football, in Zenit,
maybe for them the letter will act as a sort of engine
and push them to play an even better game.
I would like for that to happen.
