Norm Jarock's number thirty six and Larry Krause's number thirty two
were both retired by St. Norbert College after their football playing
careers were over.
But the college wanted to unveil signage indicating the honors at
Schneider Stadium.
It was a rainy Saturday but, for the two former Green Knight football greats the
date couldn't have been more perfect. Given all the great football players that came through
here,
for me to be lucky enough to have my number retired is pretty special.
Undoubtedly the most meaningful thing that's happened to me in a long, long time. It curls the back of your neck.
Jarock, a 1958 graduate of St. Norbert and Krause, a 1970
grad
had tremendous football careers,
but it was the people they met while attending St. Norbert College that had
a lasting impact on their lives.
Today I'm meeting some friends ah... that I played ball with, it's like we,
like we saw each other yesterday.
It's just uh...
it's a great place;
it's a fantastic school
and I'm just blessed to be able to have spent four years here.
I think the big thing is the camaraderie, though.
With the small size.
You, you knew everybody and everybody... uh...
everybody out there was a friend.
I hold St. Norbert College very dear
it's got a history of uh...
serving the community uh... and our nation.
St. Norbert College has an outstanding
football tradition.
Jarock and Krause are two important members of that history which now lives
on for generations to come.
I'm Mike Counter, reporting for St. Norbert College.
