It's a great pleasure. I have been looking forward to present my next female music guest
Welcome to you. Jeannette
I have layed out a small appetizer "Allright, Allright" and a short moment ago we could hear your nice song
I have invited you tonight so we could get to know something about your music background
and a little about who you are.
Where did the music start for you?
Well, it started when I went to music school where I got education in the guitar
My father have always played guitar a lot. I have felt much inspired by that.
and so my music carreer started ...when you were a child?
Yes, actually. I guess it started when I was six or seven.
I have always been fond of music
...and you've never quit the music. The music have accompanied you.
Always, always
... you have not performed an instrument ...your vocal has been elaborated through the years.
It came by later on. After for a period having played classical guitar...
...then I got... ...I got into a band..as a guitar player...
and singing was required, too
...and the bandmembers said to me "We receive education on our instrument...
...We would like you to get the same"
...and that launched that career. I got education in singing
Technique...? Technique to help me to elaborate on what I had...
Gee, you are super skilled. Woow!
I have your album here, Jeannette
...and I have told the viewers that it is recorded in the States
That's exactly what it is
...and I can't help to smile a little. You know, I'm a bit of a 80'-freak
I loved the eighties and when I say Earth, Wind & Fire you'll say...?
Then I'll be smiling my face off. Yeees, get it on. It's a such a sweet story.
It's about the record company Alliance Records who signed me cooperate with a lot of different artist
and Larry Dunn, who is one of those artist contributes to the record
and he have made the C-part and participates in "Allright, Allright"
To me. he's so big ...and also a former member of EW&F
Yeh, it's a nice experience ...but also your sound, it's so wonderful.
And it makes you wanting for more Is it a coincidence what genre you've reached...
...or is it something you have aimed for?
My background is that I've always loved brazilian and african music
I've travelled around in Brazil and Cuba, and I have danced and played that kind of music a lot.
...and mix it with elements of jazz, soul and pop so it'll become not one genre but many genres
so you can extract the strong elements and communicate the text in order to match the music.
That's mainly what it is.
A sort of a fusion.... Yes, a huge fusion of whatever
The lyrics on your album. Where do they come from?
Many of the tracks are made by myself and also song-writers from USA...
...a Vickie Johnson who is situated in Los Angeles, USA
How is that process of writing for yourself. Is it basic to communicate what you've written?
When I write a lyric i get an idea from people whom I've met
or words which feels good in my mouth and then elaborate on that.
I often make a story out from that experience
and then I try to find that music which I think tells that story best
So the process is I get some text-input and I'll get the music to send the message
...but really lifeblood when it's your own words.
How does the danish music society see your music? It have a international sound to it.
I think that people will hear a mixture of smooth jazz and brazilian/african rythms
a rytmical foundation with something floating above
You get som happy emotions...
Yes, happy and relaxed
There a track "Slowdrive" on the record where it should feels like cruising and enjoying the whole world.
How do you see the future. Where are you heading to if you would choose?
I feel most comfortable when I'm on stage. Whether it's for 50 or 1000 spectators....
Thats where I want to be. The livefeeling and feedback from the audience
and hopefully to be able to pass on a message, people will find usable.
But do you have the dream of conquer the world. Is that basic for you i.e. to get to the States
Yes, that would be a very thing to be allowed that. I'll do it!!
That would be the ultimate goal to travel around the world and perform
What kind of music do you listen to? Which genre are you into?
It has quite a wide range because I love music in general
It goes from trash and heavy into classical...?
You wouldn't believe it but there's a huge number of guitarists who plays heavy
and many of them have a classical background so they make some quite impressive things on the guitar, when playing heavy
Technical stuff... ...and that impresses you
and though it's not quite what I put on the player I would listen to jazz, old Motown-stuff, R'nB, disco
Do you already have new lyrics in your storage. You've bet. I'm ready....
I'm ready for the next one, and that'll be the same sound
I'm not on my way to make a heavy metal album
and it'll be founded on rytmic inspiration from all over the world.
We would love to hear more of that
Do you have a homepage and are you on iTunes? Do you have som informations about that?
I'm on facebook "Jeannette Hoejby" and you can find jeannettehoejby.com
...and I'll have a release on my record where it can be found on iTunes
I wish you the best for your record and I wish a fine career
You just feels like "the real thing" and I hope you'll get a good start in the music-business
It have been a pleasure and maybe I'll see you later...
when the unsearchable ways of music have brought you around the world
