Interviewer: All right, here's Steven McQueen. So real tattoos on your arm.
So how did that work last season when of course you were having a lot of
different body art things happening?
Steven: Well there are some days that your call time is pretty early, and I
had to show up about an hour earlier so they could cover them all with
makeup.
Interviewer: Oh wow. And how many do you have total?
Steven: Five. In the rebellious period, you know, if I could get them
lasered I would but it sounds a little too painful for my comfort.
Interviewer: So you're done. No more tattoos.
Steven: No more tattoos.
Interviewer: That's it. So the new season, I'm curious, where are you guys
living? Where are you and Elena living because the house is no more?
Steven: Yeah, my house is burnt down and Elena's going off to college, so I
am kind of stuck rooming with Damon.
Interviewer: Okay. So is that more like bromance stuff? You guys are
getting along working out there together?
Steven: At times. But I feel like we kind of butt heads. Yeah, I think
we're butting heads a little bit. We're getting in each other's comfort
zone.
Interviewer: Is that a little bit about Elena? Does he still have some
issues?
Steven: Sure, yeah, he's taking over my sister.
Interviewer: Exactly. So how does Jeremy feels about that, because
obviously they've been together for a while now, so doesn't look like it's
going to go away, but what's Jeremy's reaction to all that?
Steven: I don't think I'm stoked about it. But yeah, it's definitely an
interesting dynamic.
Interviewer: Okay. That's a good point. Now we know Jeremy's still a
hunter, now that he's alive and everything. Will we see him learning new
things? Whether it's combat or just what it means to be a hunter, because
he got a taste of it last year, but I'm guessing there's a lot more.
Steven: We haven't done really any training stuff this year, there's like a
workout scene. But you know, I think he knows how to fight this season.
Interviewer: Has that been more of a challenge for you?
Steven: That's my favorite stuff. I really enjoy doing the fight scenes. I
enjoy that whole dynamic a bunch.
Interviewer: Okay. And of course Bonnie's going to be a big part of your
arc this season, the fact that you can only see her, talk to me about that
a little bit. Do other people find out? Because at the end of the last
season you were the only one.
Steven: Yeah, at the end of the last season she sacrifices herself for me.
And this isn't something I asked her to do, it's I think, from Jeremy's
perspective, just losing another loved one. And it being my fault this
time. And he's kind of carrying that weight and he's keeping this secret. I
can't really say much more.
Interviewer: Okay. Is his heart still with Bonnie, or is even going to get
tested a little bit? Since she's not really alive, there might be live
girls walking around.
Steven: My heart is with Bonnie.
Interviewer: Okay. Catherine's around this season. Are you interacting with
her?
Steven: I've got a couple scenes with Catherine. And I've been saying I'd
like to see stuff from Catherine's perspective. She was this immensely
powerful creature. Strong, fast, and pissed off a lot of people, but was
able to survive and get away because she was this vampire. She could run
off whatever. And at the beginning of this season she starts in a very
vulnerable place. And Nina's done a great job of playing it. And yeah,
she's rocking it.
Interviewer: Okay. Is this a different Catherine than we're used to seeing,
just because she's human now?
Steven: Yeah, yeah, definitely.
Interviewer: Okay.
