My name is Curtis Edmonds. I'm the program director
of the Richard West Assistive Technology Advocacy Center
at Disability Rights New Jersey. We work with the New Jersey Division of
Vocational Rehabilitation Services
on a grant from the federal Rehabilitation Services Administration.
We provide assistive technology services and advocacy services
for people with disabilities throughout New Jersey
I'm an attorney. I have spent my career in a
lot of different places, working in a U.S. Senator's office,
working for a governor, and working for a large research university
and in all those places, the most important job I've ever had was helping people with disabilities
whether that was trying to help people get government benefits, or training
employers on the Americans with Disabilities Act, or working to make
educational web sites more accessible.
We work with a network of assistive technology service providers across New Jersey
to provide loans, demonstrations and reuse of assistive technology devices,
whether they are as simple to use as this reacher,
or as complicated to use as this iPad.
(computer voice) I am not that complicated.

You know, I never thought I would need assistive technology, but as I've gotten older,
I find myself using the accessibility features on my iPhone or Kindle,
in order to make text larger or to make sounds louder.
