Fog lays across the harbor
Touching the wall of the quai
A tugboat sails out
with ship’s lanterns burning
A hazy bright spot
singing a morning hurray
And the seagulls are singing…
And the water whispers…
New York is still asleep…
Containers and derricks are dark frozen statures
But the sun coming up slowly kiss them alive
Old New York is waking up
A ship sounds his horns accentuating his drive
And the seagulls are singing…
And the water whispers…
New York is waking up
An early morning jogger
Puffs and pants while passing by
A resting seagull on a pile
Watch the man and starts to cry
Thin Angie in her bedroom
Reflects on what this day could bring
Her childhood memories come back
When she hear the seagulls sing…
When the sun pushes the fog away a few moments later
And the Big Apple skyline proudly appears
The city life becomes louder and louder
But down by the docks still I can hear
The water whispering…
And the seagulls singing…
The seagulls of New York
