Hi, I'm Judy Carrier and I'm here with Jewels by Park Lane and I'd like to talk to you about
insuring your jewelry. Why would you insure it, you ask? Very simply, it costs a lot to
replace it, and you never know when something might happen, you know. We have hurricanes
in Florida all the time and it's very easy for something to be lost in a storm. It's
the same reason you insure anything, like a car, or any other valuable. One of the first
things you want to do is check with your insurance agent to see if your fashion jewelry or your
real jewelry is covered under your homeowners policy or your rental policy, and even if
it is, sometimes they have a limit so you might want to think about taking out a writer
to cover the cost of replacement because something you purchased twenty years ago might cost
a thousand to replace it now. Another thing that you want to consider is insuring jewelry
when it's purchased, for instance, from the store that you purchased it from. One of the
nice things about doing that is they keep the records for you. Save your receipts, have
your jewelry appraised, and take pictures of individual pieces, that way you can show
and prove to an insurance company that it was in top notch condition, and keep all these
receipts, these appraisals, insurance papers, in a fire-proof, water-proof container, that
way you're covered, and hopefully, you'll be able to replace any jewelry that might
be lost or stolen. I'm Judy Carrier with Jewels by Park Lane and I hope you don't ever have
to replace any of your jewelry.
