Welcome to the cannabinews network- This is the news Roll Up.
We just got back from a episode
with Lisa Kaler from the four twenty times you interviewed Cisco Adler
the Expendables and Iration yes click on the link above
to get to see those interviews
Just so you know Coor's Light did not sponsor it- it was very much
Cisco Adler's is forced contractual necessity to put that can in his
hand at
and i don't think we're gonna blur it, we'll see what coors light has to say
anyways this is my friend Lisa Kaler
and my buddy Henrik Larsson the actor - the Swede
this is out Allen Fradkin the general manager of Perennial Holistic
and Erica adamson and you'd see her
at EABRAID at youtube.
we have a very special segment today we're going to be discussing with Alan
vaporizors versus the pipe versus the joint
versus the ***- if you're afraid of trying to cannabis
you're not sure it will work for you- you don't wanna smoke a joint - your longs are irritated you have
respiratory issues- this is the way to go
Alan -take it away. Show us what you've brought.
So I'm gonna explain the basics of how a vaporizer works and
why as a vaporizer works and I do this
all the time for the patients at perennial and that's something we
think everyone should have access to it's important to understand the
difference between
vaporization and combustion and as you can see
in the pipe the combustion leaves a
black ash black white grey ash it is completely consumed and you're getting
all other carcinogens whereas
on the leavings of the vaporizer its almost toasted in brown
a the bud is not consumed and
all that stuff you can conceive as what never made it into your lungs
that's just a visual representation love that ninety-five (ish)
percent drop in carcinogens when you the vaporize as opposed to smoke
the first thing about vaporizers is you need a grinnder and
this is a great one this is a three-stage grinder
it does all kinds of fancy stuff for you don't need one like that
but you can't just put up a nut
in your the vaporizer here it won't work
you need to expose all the surface area to that hot air heat energy
so that a you can get into all the nooks and crannies
get all their potency out of the buds. what you want to do
is taken off the stem and put it around the center
so that everything is on a part of the grinder that's gonna
rotate relative to the teeth and that once you have
that done you world put the rest of the grinder together
and actually if you grounded upside down you get a finer surface area if you
grind down
because it won't fall through these holes
when it gets to that size so once you grind
it will all collect in the bottom of the grinder.
ok and that's what you wanna put inside your vaporizer
so I load the vaporizer with not too tight
but enough to fill it and still let air pass through and
put into the vaporizer I'm using the Airiser solo right now
which as provided by gotvape dot com and I really
like these guys they take great care to make sure that they carry the vaporizers
made out of the
that right materials to a handle the temperatures at
which these reactions happen so I set the
vaporizer to the proper temperature it's actually hitting up right now
and vaporizers will
get your herb the desired effect right around 375 degrees Fahrenheit
is right about when vapor happens give or take
some people will set their digital vaporizers to vastly different
temperatures and
that's just about the relationship between the bowl and the heat element
so there is a there is a variance as far as what your digital readout may say you
wanna go by
results and what works best for you and when you were
when you draw a long consistent breath after
one or two pulls to get the bowl caught up to the temperature of
the heat element you should get vapor
The first rip always tastes the best. It's pretty cool
Is it possible to make your vaporizer too hot? yes
you can and you don't want to do that ever really because
if the bowl is on fire in then you're going to have smoke resin
as opposed to vaporizer resin in your vaporizer
and that taste much worse it's much dirtier and harder to clean and
that's the stuff that puts all the carcinogens in your lungs - as opposed to
the vapor which doesn't
so I actually maintainancing your vaporizers overtime is much easier than pipes and
you
get much longer in between maintenances.
so the user of a vaporizer
should use their judgment; that if they have really wet product
they should use clearly a higher temperature to try to vaporize it.
Or if they have a dryer product, use a lower temperature to try to avoid that combustion
within the vaporizer. Actually that's a misconception the
the vapor reactions happen at the same temperature range
however a wetter herb
or fresher herb however you wanna say it might take longer to preheat
It may take a minute to zap the moisture out so it may take you more
rips before you actually get what what's going to be good vapor.
you may need to preheat your vaporizor by just
drawing air through it. thanks
yeah if you do go the route of setting your vaporizer to a higher
temperature to compensate for that wetness
what you'll get right away is something close to the desired effect but as you
go
longer into the bowl. t'll probably become a little bit harsh
should people invest, should people invest in a in the volcano vaporizers?
that cost about seven hundred bucks
comes with the giant bag and it's just this contraption that sits...
Is it worth it to invest in one of those? Or should we keep it simple and spend
$200- $250 on something like that?
what would be your...
your suggestion... Good Question.
At perennial I prefer to keep it simple
with just two really easy to use models however
if you really really love vapor and wanna make the extra investment
the volcano's a great machine. I've used before and love it
a its very expensive in and you will
eventually make your money back with vapor
because you're gonna burn through a little less is and that the effect is more
concentrated
but it's really up to you and what your own priorities are
as far as so what what machine you wanna go with.
They always say that everything should be done with modesty.
So is there such thing as too much vapor, or can you still pretty much
do it at will.
Absolutely a just like you can smoke too much and put yourself to sleep you can
vaporize too much in for yourself to sleep in and actually
a takes less herb if you're doing it correctly to get there
a if you were to translate one-for-one the amount of weed you smoke in a
pipe you might actually
find yourself taking a nap so
I would I would start small the ball on the air riser
is that big and
one ball is packs I would say the punch
of one of those shorts right there so
put that into perspective. That's how vaporizers work
so that very interesting, you can get more information
gotvape.com He has
whole bunch of vaporizers. Click the link on
check them out! You guys have questions for Alan
and the the timing it takes
for the effect... the
medincinal effect that you're looking for when you're vaporizing can be a much different effect and
timing and also the effect of smoking
is really your body is reacting to the smoke. I'm glad you bring that up
the time frame in which the medicinal effect comes on
is different from combustion and vaporization. some people would describe
the way vapor works is sorta creeping up on you
but it does come on more gradually and that's probably because it takes a
little longer to vaporize your bowl.
You have to cover all over the surface area above that
ground herb before you get the maximum efficiency
whereas when you smoke it you actually can consume it very rapidly
to to get everything all at once so that
should explain the the discrepancy in how they affect comes on
and why some people say vapor is a a creeper if you will
and this is what i'm wondering about too
What is the cost? What is the cost comparison
to smoking that and your pipe?
(good question)
well if you put it that way there's a big difference actually because
with the because the concentrated
affect of the vapor as opposed to smoke
there's a big difference and when you vaporize to feel the medicinal effect
it actually takes about
between a third and half of the flower
by weight to get to the same place.
so patients who vaporize will end up saving
the money in the long run. You actually save money?
Oh yeah you're gonna go through, you're gonna cut your herb consumption
in half to get to the same place otherwise you'll be getting twice as high.
that's why the bowl on this thing is so small
what are the not so obvious health benefits to vaporizing?
For instance when you smoke out of like
papers or blunts - it's bad to smoke the byproduct
yeah so I wanna hear, what are other health benefits to vaping and stuff?
Well aside from
the the straightforward ones which is the lack of carcinogens from the smoke
and the decreased amount of heat irritation from the fact that all
this happens at lower temperatures overall
there's an interesting one that most people don't talk about
and that's that cannabis has expectorant properties
I'm sure you've all heard of Mucinex.
That's how it goes.
well cannabinoids work the same way. That's why you get productive coughs and phlegm
comes up after you smoke
It's actually why
a cannabis smoke has a lower incidence of causing lung cancers because there is
a balance between the harmful
inflow and any productive outflow with
vapor, with vapor on the other hand there's virtually no inflow because 95
percent of those carcinogens are no longer in the picture
and because the cannabinoids are concentrated the expectorant outflows
much stronger
so you're actually clearing out your respiratory system in effect
In vaporization verses smoking?
oh yeah yeah oh yeah and a lot of people will describe
hacking stuff up and and clearing out and being able to breathe
much better afterwards
which most people confuse as a side effect- they think of it as a negative side effect
that they start coughing and hacking so much is actually beneficial
well as early if you're smoking then you could be on the wrong side of
the balance but we're if you're vaporizing then yes it is a
much more beneficial cough and
its probably gonna
reduce over time as opposed to increase. Personally
I you went from the bongs to the vaporizer
and found that I breathe much easier now
alot of that nasty lung butter came out and never went back
so quickly these run what? this one's about a hundred bucks? this ine's about two
hundred dollars?
and they range in price anywhere from a smaller sixty five or seventy dollars to a
couple hundred dollars for a big one? you're looking at the two hundred
and up range from portables and the
100 ish range for stationeries. And then again there's all kinds of intricate
stuff out there for
you don't need a doctors reccomendation for this either- anyone can buy this if you have
a relative that uses cannabis in a legal state... get them one of these!
it will
help them. so much! I'm Sam Humeid from Cannabinews- These are my friends!
We will be back next time with some more
breaking information relevant to cannabis industry and relevant to you
and until then... roll up a joint and smoke it!
