Highlight text to annotate it

When we look at the amount of space, a line of text takes up, we need to take into account
the different places that we use space in writing letters. So if you look at my guideline
set here, I've guide-lined two lines worth of writing. This space right here is the body
of the lower case letters, this is the ascender space, and this is the descender space, so
this is for line 1; so I'll write 1 there. Now this space right here is for line 2; it
has an ascender space, it has an X space for the body of the lower case, and it has a descender
line, so this is line 2. So far so good. It looks as thought the system will work for
any type of writing of text. However, there's a need for more space, and that's going to
be shown if I write the word, "life" here, and if on the line below I have a capital,
or a letter that uses the ascender space, I might run into difficulties if for example,
I write the word, "like". Now we never know where our capitals and ascenders are going
to come until we practice them, but you can be sure that if you haven't left space between
your lines, you're going to have something like this happening, which is extremely undesirable,
because we read by connecting letters and words that are linked together by spacing,
and that messes that up.
