This morning we pay tribute
to individuals from our
respective Emergency Services
for their work
in the field of Communications
over the past year.
The public safety
communications centres
maintain an around the clock
lifesaving link
between emergency responders
and the public we serve.
Part of any successful rescue,
cardiac save or
coordination for
emergency police response,
begins with an
Emergency Services Calltaker
determining the location
and nature of the emergency,
and often providing
critical life saving instructions
until help arrives.
This is followed by
a Dispatcher directing
frontline staff to the incident,
and then providing continued
ongoing support
to operations at the scene.
These dedicated professionals,
working in partnership between
the three communications centres,
operate behind the scenes
making critical decisions
on a daily basis
that impact the response
and mitigation of
emergency situations
in the City of Toronto.
