Hello and welcome to join in a regatta here in Bergerheim Marine Cup for ACC boats.
Bergerheim is myself and I sail boat you see in the image.
I have also designed the entire course with all the turns.
I have also put some ships and boats to make it more realistic like.
I have even disigned with all islands.
We run this with the highest degree of difficulty.
This is to make it as strong resistance as possible.
When I test drove the track I noticed to the German boat was very fast.
I could not keep up with it, so I decided now to catch on to it.
I decided to try the start while.
We have three minutes to find positions before the start.
We can feel the wind trying find the best position at the start.
I thought I'd hook on the German boat here.
Everything seemed a good thing to begin with.
But it turned out after a while that I almost missed the start.
We go up here to the start line.
This degree of difficulty, it is different from walking to sailing a path.
The wind is shifting all the time in the race.
So you can not train into certain things and believe it works next time you sail track.
These are the things you must consider when sailing in this degree of difficulty.
Although the currents in the water changes.
So you have to keep out sails and waves.
Now, we all go up to the starting line and I follow the German boat.
Then I did not notice the other boats will at full speed from behind and passes me.
They pass me here at the starting line and when I noticing it, I give everything to keep up.
But I will leave late and end up a bit after.
I am a pretty good anyway, but not better than position 6.
When I sail a regatta I always sail from skipper position.
This is where you stand and steers the boat and it is from this postion you see in reality.
I always sail from this position and use no F keys to control the sail off.
I get to look in different directions from this place and can look under the boom or sails
I have a window in the mainsail as I can see through and a transparent part of the genoa.
I must also be careful to look forward and to pages, so that I see the waves and the wind comes from.
It is also important to think carefully about the sails and how wind comes, because I do not use any wind arrows.
I also have a radar and gps screen down in the left corner that you can not see.
I can see on the radar screen was the other boats are and see what course they have.
Wind Arrows and other aids are out feature. I must therefore look at the waves and sail the wind comes from.
It is always so full speed up the first mark rounding.
It tends to be crowded and I do not like being squished.
Here crowding the Italian boat off the mark.
It was the French boat was the cause of it.
French boat get a penalty for that.
The Italian boat must make a turn around for the get on the right side of the label.
When we run up here, I know that the French boat has penalty.
The French boat needs this make a 360 degree turn.
Boats turns here and run a bit to the left.
I get fooled by it and think it is here we should turn and take down the spinnaker.
I do not know how the track turns to I have not run it properly.
But I find that the next turn is later, but still sailing with the genoa.
I do not care about putting the spinnaker again, I have approx. 14 knots here.
I want to sail more safe here and get a good and steady course towards the next rounding.
The other boats go close and round with the spinnaker up.
It wont happen INCIDENT at runingar with spinnaker and it will be so again this time.
The Chinese boat strikes in the Japanese and gets a penalty.
The Chinese must make a turn to the right and where it is shallow, so the boat runs aground there.
We are now moving towards the next rounding.
The Japanese boat is a bit faster than the English.
The English boat must keep aside for the Japanese boat.
The Japanese boat gets an improved and faster turn and go up in the lead.
I could set the spinnaker a little faster here.
But I do not want to take too big risks and sail mostly on safety.
Now it is not so strong winds.
But the wind twists and changes constantly.
Wind level is approx. 16 feet per second.
Is it 33 to 36 feet per second is very difficult to sail with a spinnaker.
When running the spinnaker is usual to make a curving course.
Man running to get the optimal angle against the wind and then get a higher speed.
The brasillianska boat gets a very high speed here.
I run, however, perfectly straight for try to make it and do well.
I do not get as high speed in knots as others, but I still serve on the straight course.
I am the first to mark and the advantage of the inside track.
They have to dodge for me.
The brasillianska boat makes a lot bad turn here and go on a penalty.
The French boat that was first penalty, the additional penalty here.
You can round to the right immediately at the mark, but I choose to hold up against the wind anymore.
The wind has shifted here, so it is more advantageous to go straight here.
I want to try to go as close to the island as possible here.
You'll soon understand why I run so close.
Tag for next rounding is hidden behind the point on the island.
It is important to hold up against the wind and try to clear the course without extra strokes.
It is important to get the right angle to clear it with one swing.
I calculate that if I hold so close to the island as possible, so I will not have to make an extra beat.
I go as close to the island I dare and it is almost as it scrapes the keel.
The Japanese boat scraped in and ran aground.
The English boat out, however same line as I did.
As the wind turned, so I am unsure on how far up I should go before the turn.
I lose momentum here, but can nevertheless turn over good anyway .
I have gone up in a pretty safe lead I think and start to feel more confident.
But it is impossible to sail on the way and out of focus.
You have to be in focus all the time in this degree of difficulty.
You have to constantly try to find optimal performance, to reach maximum speed.
The boats come from behind at high speed.
When I go round here, I'm not fast. I put the spinnaker a little too late.
It will be headed up already there before the turn.
It misses such as a loss of momentum and many such mistakes have consequences.
You have to constantly try and get maximum performance.
We are now in perhaps the fastest party of the track and the speed is around 20 to 22 knots here.
As the wind turns and shifts so much sometimes, so you have to be vigilant on the spinnaker.
I drove the track earlier in a test race and when the wind had completely different angle here.
It's very large forces that squeeze in a spinnaker, so it comes really looking up.
That all worked well last time, is no guarantee that it will work now.
But everything works well here and I have a peaceful and nice spinnaker.
But I have still not optimal performance in the race.
Since I do not sail with maximum performance, so the boats will catch up from behind.
I'm thinking about what I should do to sail faster and getting stressed.
Since I can not track, so I lose concentration here and do not know where I'm going.
I have a chart where I see the design of the course, but it takes a while to check.
Through all the bad moments here, so I lose much speed and lose many meters.
I lost so much speed that boats behind quickly caught up with me.
We are approaching the finish line, for this is a sprint race, which is not so far.
Since I notice that the wind has turned, so start be unsure how to sail the last stretch.
The boats come so quickly from behind and I'm stressed out here.
Last time, when I tested the track, so I could swing around brand and drive right up to the finish line.
But I notice that the wind has capsized so much, that it will not work now to turn same.
I get nervous and unsure how I to turn and sail across the finish line.
When I try to turn up at the finish line, so I notice that it is not possible at all in this wind.
I need to watch the boats coming behind, but also finding the right angle to the finish line.
I have to keep the momentum and to know exactly when I'll turn over, to run across the finish line.
I have many different elements to calculate this.
I'm losing a lot of speed, but decides to turn over and take a risk, to get right to the finish.
But I managed to make the right judgment and can run straight and cross the finish line.
I managed to win by just over a boat length.
I am grateful that you came into this regatta and hope you had a good time.
