Do Gravity waves in the space-time fabric prove the
Big *** and dismiss a Creator? Let's find out on
this edition of Genesis Week!
[music]

Eeeegads - you guys just about crashed my email
server, and just about broke facebook with so many
people sending me articles related to a fascinating
discovery of gravity waves which allegedly prove
the Big *** hypothesis.
The discovery quickly prompted a lot of talk about
a Nobel prize. Many an anticreationist was
heralding this finding as a final dismissal of the
need for a Creator God - the universe was the
result of a big ***, not divine creation. The news
was trumpeted so loudly that even Jimmy Kimmel had
a skit on his show, asking God what he thought
about this latest discovery. Meanwhile, other
Christians have actually said this latest discovery
doesn't remove God from the picture at all, and in
fact only further affirms a Creator!
So in this confusing mess, just what exactly was
discovered and just what does it mean? To
understand any of it, we need to take a look
at some history.
Originally, astronomers with a strong allergy to
the concept of a Creator God were imagining how our
universe could have come to be without a Creator.
The universe was originally conceived to be
continaully expanding and then collapsing, then
expanding and collapsing. The universe had no
beginning, and no end.
The Big *** model proposed that all matter,
energy, the space time fabric, was all bundled up
in a ball the size of what is now a proton, and for
reasons unknown, exploded with tremendous energy
into what is now our universe.
When the "big ***" model was first proposed, it
was despised by many astronomers for the very
reason that it had a beginning - and this opened
the nasty door to "In the beginning, God
created..." Yet the big *** model was popularized
and in 1965 the discovery and first measurements
were made of the Cosmic Background Radiation, also
called the Cosmic Microwave Background radiation -
commonly called by its acronym of CMB.
Basically, this background radiation is like a
residual energy measureable throughout our
universe. Even the dark portions of our universe
are emitting energy in the microwave spectrum that
does not appear to be coming from galaxies or
stars. The Big *** theory claimed to predict this
background energy, assuming this energy to be
leftovers from the initial explosion of
the big ***.
But the CMB posed a lot of serious problems, even
for the Big *** theory that it supposedly
affirmed. For instance, that radiation is extremely
even and uniform throughout the universe. The
universe is so huge, that even using the
evolutionists age of the universe at 13.8 billion
years, give or take a week, the energy does not
have enough time to get from one end of the
universe to the other! The energy would have to
travel FASTER than the speed of light. This is
called the Horizon problem, because the energy is
distributed evenly, from one horizon to the other.
There is also what is called the "Flatness" problem
- basically, the energy of the Big *** explosion
so precisely matched the energy of the gravity
holding the ball together that it enabled the
formation of the universe. Rob Sheldon explained
the flatness problem exceptionally well over at
Evolution News and Views:
The unbelievable story of the Big *** actually
becomes even more unbelievable when you actually
start to incorporate evidence - even evidence that
is the supposed salvation of the theory, like the
Cosmic Background Radiation!
But wait for it - as unbelievable as the story is,
it's about to get even more unbelievable - enter
Alan Guth. Discover magazine put Guth's theory
right on their front cover and explained his
theory like this:
Where did Everything Come From? The Universe at
about 10-34 seconds (Actual Size). The Universe
Burst into SOMETHING from absolutely NOTHING -
zero, nada. As it got bigger, it became filled with
even more stuff that came from absolutely NOWHERE.
How is that possible? (wait for it) Just
ask Alan Guth!
Ya, like he was there, so clearly he knows.
His theory of inflation helps explain EVERYTHING.
This is BLIND FAITH folks! Don't you DARE criticize
me for believing the things I willingly admit to
believing in blind faith, while handing me wild
speculation and wishful thinking like this as some
kind of "science" falsely so called!
Notice how much Guth's theory sounds an awful lot
like Ex Nihilo creation - out of the nothing. But
wait for it - because the Big *** theory was
initially despised because it opened the door to a
beginning for the universe, which opened the door
to "In the beginning, GOD created..." and yet Guth
calls upon miracles for this theory which sound an
awful lot like what the Bible seems to imply
happened at the beginning!
As you can see here and as we already mentioned,
within the big *** model, the Universe was
purported to have started off as a pinpoint ball
which then exploded into our present universe. The
cosmic background radiation was supposed to be an
answer to the question, but actually posed more
problems for the theory it was supposed to
vindicate - the horizon and flatness problems. In
an attempt to solve these problems, Guth proposed
that the initial inflation - that initial expansion
of that ball, was so fast that it exceeded the
speed of light - something which is physically
impossible. After all, how often have you had an
atheist bring up distant starlight as an alleged
problem for a young age of the universe and earth?
"Energy can't travel faster than the speed of
light, but we have stars billions of light years
away. Therefore the universe must be billions of
years old!" Those very same people will then turn
around and hypocritically embrace Guth's model of
inflation, which has the entire UNIVERSE expanding
at faster than the speed of light! This inflation
expanded at this rate for a whopping 0.000 000 000
000 000 000 000 000 000 000 001 seconds. Now of
course, that is an approximation.
But notice that these theorists have incredibly
rapid expansion for mere minutes in their model, at
which point they then mysteriously revert from
microseconds to BILLIONS OF YEARS. Why the billions
of years? Even in their own theory, they have
miraculous rates of expansion - what they commonly
call "new physics." New physics? So we are talking
about the metaphysical. Yes, even atheists believe
in miracles, they just don't know it. It was this
rapid expansion that allegedly produced the
gravitational waves which made the headlines we
are getting to.
I just loved the way Michael Minkoff put it:
In multiple places, my Bible talks about the
expansion of the universe and space - God stretched
it in a literal, 24 hour day. For example:
The word Universe itself speaks of the awesomeness
of our Creator: Uni - verse, a
single, spoken sentence.
So the gravitational waves that were supposedly
discovered this week: Are they evidence of a Big
***? Or a big word?
Right at the same time that this week's stunning
discovery was announced, Dr. Danny Faulkner had
ALREADY published a paper in the Answers Research
Journal, which was released.
He put it in no uncertain terms:
Well wait a minute - the Cosmic Microwave
Background energy is precisely what kills the Big
*** theory! It was the flatness and horizon
problems that prompted Guth to propose miracles.
To make matters worse, the Cosmic Background
Radiation may not even be leftovers from a Cosmic
explosion! For instance, as Dr. John Hartnett
points out in 2006, it was discovered that the
Cosmic Background Radiation produces no shadows!
Let me explain it this way: Just like light, if
there is an object between you and the light
source, there is a shadow produced by the object.
It is no different in space - the background
radiation would be blocked by space dust, galaxies
and stars, etc., and thus we would see "shadows" in
the background radiation here on earth. There are
no shadows visible from the Cosmic Background
Radiation. So that means the Cosmic Background
Radiation is NOT coming from the distant reaches of
the universe, and thus is NOT the result of a Big
***. Thus the Cosmic Background Radiation is
actually NOT evidence for the Big ***! This point
is going to become even more important in just a
moment, but notice that the ONLY EVIDENCE for the
Big *** appears to have not only caused fatal
problems for the Big *** theory, it now fails as
supporting evidence for the Big ***. The Big ***
is a big bust.
Stick around - we'll be back in 1 minute!

If you'll recall from previous episodes, including
our interview with Dr. Russell Humphreys, we spoke
about the connection between matter, the speed of
light, time, distance, and the influence of gravity
on things like time. If you'll recall, from
experiments conducted and from predictions based
upon Einstein's relativity formula, it was
discovered that gravity actually changes time.
Nuclear clocks on mountain tops ran faster than
nuclear clocks in death valley. The farther away
the clock was from the strong gravitational field
of earth, the faster the clock ran. We live in
time, so we tend to think of time as a constant,
but it is not - time can actually vary. And so the
rate of time actually changes, depending on where
you are in our universe. If you are away from any
gravitational bodies, time runs remarkably faster.
Now if you were to map out a grid of the rate at
which time changes in space, with smaller grids
being faster time and larger grids being slower
time, stellar bodies with lots of gravity would
actually slow time down around it - it would
stretch this space-time fabric, making the grid
lines farther apart as time was stretched out -
slowed down. So as the stellar body moves around
the universe, it will stretch this fabric of space
and time around it - time will be influenced by
this field of gravity surrounding the body.
Essentially, you are looking at a gravity wave as
the stellar body passes by you.
Similar to other waves, the gravity wave can travel
- you can have waves of gravity in space and time.
And so if you were to stand stationary in space as
these gravity waves passed you, you would
experience the rate of time actually changing. Time
would slow down as the body got close, then speed
up as the body got farther away. Now this is all
relative of course, hence the name of the theory is
relativity. Time is faster or slower relative to
what? Well, relative to a different place
in the universe!
But now during the alleged big ***, you would have
gravity waves emitted from the big *** itself, if
you will. Now this animation isn't quite accurate,
because within the big *** theory, time and space
itself is also supposed to expand with the big
***. Nevertheless, it is expected you would get
gravity waves drifting throughout the universe.
It is these gravity waves that several research
projects have been attempting to measure, in hopes
of affirming the big *** theory. It is these
gravity waves that brings us to this week's story.
The BICEP2 telescope in the Antarctic is a special
type of telescope which looks at the Cosmic
Background Radiation to see if it is POLARIZED or
not. Many of you will be familiar with polarization
already - with polarized glasses, or for you
photographers, polarized lenses. Light is a wave -
but it is a wave in multiple dimensions. If you run
that light through a polarizer, it removes one
polarity of that light. If you rotate the
polarizer, you remove the other polarities of
light. It is this effect that allows you to see
underwater with special polarized glasses.
Sometimes the light will have larger waves in one
polarity or plane, and so by rotating the
polarizer, you will get stronger and weaker light
coming through the polarizer.
The Cosmic Background Radiation is another form of
light - it is electromagnetic energy, just at a
very high frequency. And so it, too, could
potentially be POLARIZED, that is, it may have a
more stronger wave at one angle than another.
There's a number of things that could polarize the
light or radiation. For example - dust in space
which is magnetic has a very strong influence on
electromagnetic radiation passing through it.
Gravity waves could influence the radiation
as well.
This past week, the popular press and many an
anticreationist has ranted and raved about how the
BICEP2 discovery detected gravity waves, therefore
the Big *** is true, and a Creator God is no
longer needed. But that's not at all the case. What
the BICEP2 telescope actually detected was energy
in the 150 ghz range from this Cosmic Background
Radiation which was evidently polarized in swirls.
The Cosmic Background Radiation is ASSUMED to be
from the Big ***, the polarization of the
radiation was then ASSUMED to be caused by gravity
waves, which were ASSUMED to be from the Big ***.
Sure - maybe the polarization is real and maybe it
is caused by gravitational waves - that's a
distinct possibility that remains to be verified.
But just because a theory inspires someone to go
looking for evidence, does not mean that when he
finds the evidence his theory is correct. There may
be other explanations for the evidence, and that
evidence may fit other theories just as well, or
perhaps even better. For example, the evidence can
also be attributed to our Creator God stretching
out the heavens - a theory which doesn't have the
problems of the Big *** theory because there is an
intelligence behind the inflation. The Big ***
theories must explain the precise nature of the
universe within mindlessness, whereas special
creation has a mind behind the design and careful
construction of the universe.
So the evidence can fit other theories just as well
as the big *** theory. In fact, the BICEP team
even state in their report that the polarization
was actually considerably stronger than they
expected. This implies there may very well be a
different explanation than gravitational waves from
the Big ***, because the polarization
was TOO strong!
As Sheldon points out on Evolution News and Views
(no, not the Sheldon from Big *** theory), things
like space dust can influence the polarization of
the radiation. But we don't know the amount of
space dust available to influence the polarization.
After reading what the researchers actually said in
their paper, Sheldon puts it in no uncertain terms:
But the biggest kicker of all is that the results
of this research can be interpreted in multiple
ways, because there are MULTIPLE big *** models!
So playing with your dobs and knials, you get
different expectations of what you'll see out there
- so you'll verify or refute different big ***
models! Just take your pick.
Dr. Hartnett sums up the research in
one poignant paragraph:
This new evidence of alleged gravitational waves
does not "prove" the big *** - in fact, it would
enhance the already fatal flaws of the big ***
theory. Said evidence also most certainly does NOT
rule out a Creator God - contrary to what atheists
and the popular press have proponed. As you can
see, even the big *** theorists have acknowledged
the incredible precision of our universe, and the
impossibility for it to have formed by unguided
processes. Instead the Universe does declare that
it was a single, spoken sentence, directed by the
mind and hand of an infinite Creator God who
already told us what He did: That He stretched out
the heavens by His own hand.
That same hand will be used to roll up the heavens
like a scroll when he destroys this present heaven
and earth, to make room for the new heaven and new
earth. He is making a new one because this one has
been corrupted by our sin - our disobedience to
that Creator. Death, disease, sickness, all of
these things were not part of the creation but were
introduced here by our sin, and thus this world
will be destroyed. Do you think that Creator could
allow even one drop of sin into that new heaven and
new earth? Of course not - because that new
creation would also then be corrupted. But that's a
problem - because as it says in Romans, ALL have
sinned and fallen short of the glory of God. You,
me, all of us. The wages of sin is death. This is
why Jesus came in the flesh, to live a sinless
life, yet pay the price for us who have sinned. He
died that you might live, and rose from the grave
after three days to prove that He was the way, the
truth and the LIFE. In order to enter in to that
new heaven and earth, you must give Him your life
without reserve - what He called being "born
again." Believe on Him, ask Him to forgive you of
your sins, and He promised to give you the gift of
the Holy Spirit. What is holding you back today
from giving your life to Him?
