This is your AFN Spangdahlem update. I'm Airman First Class, Alexander Goad. Thousands of
people visit the Luxembourg American Cemetery every year. Senior Airman Evan Mills takes
us to Luxembourg to meet one woman, finally visiting after 50 years.
After years and years of planning, Vicki Cool finally made it to her father's grave. But
not because she didn't want to. Her father Victor is buried at the Luxembourg American
Cemetery. This is the third trip I've planned. The first
two kind of fell through because I had health problems. And I planned this trip about a
year ago. I was very, very excited about coming here. Cause it had been a goal for me my entire
life. It's quite emotional for me, you know. But I've had children that have come to visit,
and his grandchildren. And they've explained everything to me about the location and the
beauty of the cross, the white crosses, and how well kept up it is.
While taking the time to see her father's grave, she traveled the area where the battle
of the Bulge took place to learn a bit about what her father went through.
It's been very eye-opening for me because I tend to not read too much about World War
II because I get too upset, so I've learned a lot on this trip.
As time passes by, the Luxembourg American Cemetery will continue to reunite loved ones
all in their own unique way.
