When I first got cast, I was in Florida working and I looked around me, and I was like, "Someone
celebrate with me." There was no one, so I went straight to the hotel bar and annihilated
on my own.
Kate Winslet, Shailene Woodley and Theo James lit up the red carpet at the LA premiere for
their latest film Divergent.
The film is based on the best-selling young adult trilogy by Veronica Roth, and for 22
year old Shailene, it was her first action role.
It was a little bit weird but with another actor, right, you're just simply listening,
progressively listening and reacting to what they're saying, and with a green screen,
you're literally being like a child again pretending that like the floor is on fire
and there's like hot lava on the floor, you know. You've got to completely surrender to your
imagination, which is really fun and exciting and also foreign for an adult to like really
let all of your guards down and be like, 'all right, I'm going to pretend something is happening
and three hundred people are going to watch me do it.
Kate showed off her post baby body and wow she was looking fabulous. Kate plays a villain
in the film, something she's never done before.
It was a whole new challenge for me to do something so new, and when I first read the
script I was very, very aware of that, and to get the opportunity to play that type of
a role and something of such high quality where the writing was so strong and such a
wonderful story, you know, it isn't just sort of a teen popcorn franchise piece, it's very intelligent.
The film was also a dream come true for young author Veronica Roth, who said it was amazing
that her novel has come this far.
It's pretty amazing. I mean when you write a book, you figure like maybe some people
will read it and that's like the most exciting dream that you have, you know? And then to
have all of this happen, I mean I just feel extremely lucky, because it's so rare and
it turned out so well, I mean I love it, so I'm excited for everyone to see it finally.
Divergent will hit UK cinemas on the fourth of April.
