so I have all my side squares done and I'm
ready to do my corner squares
and I finished in this corner so this is the one I'm doing first
so what you want to do, is just like you did before
you can decide which direction you want to go in
doesn't matter because you can only go in one direction
so what I'm going to do is
from the corner
i'm going to go in through the same stitch
that i used
earlier getting this one
sewn on
front side facing
okay that's my middle stitch
doing what we did before
going through your
afghan stitch first then your square
single crochet attachment
folding it
I should say lining them up like you did before
we're just going to single crochet
checking every few stitches making sure it's still straight
and that your even
the reason why I like this
single crochet attachment
two reasons
It leaves a nice texture
borders your
squares
just kind of cool looking
the other reason I like it is because
it doesn't come loose
very easily
it's a strong
connection
when you get to the end
you will be doing this the same way for all your connections
you will still have to add, like i'm doing now, a corner piece
but your going to add it the same way
each time
when you get to the end, chain one and
cut your yarn
leave yourself a small tail to me
worked in later
or work over it later with a single crochet
the you'll want to attach your yarn again here and
single crochet this way as well
and again
I recommend when you making your slip knot, that you leave
a bit of a tail
before starting
your slip knot
so that way you can use a tapestry needle to sew it in later on
so keep working your way down
go to your next one
and doesn't matter which way you're working
or which one your working on
just go in through one side, the the other
you're going to be doing a single crochet attachment
you can either work ove ryour tail or use a tapestry needle later
i want to make sure that my
tails get hidden well, so I am just going to go back through when i'm done
and hide my tails with a tapestry needle
it's entirely up to you
then when you get to the end of
this granny
do the same thing
get to the end corner
chain one and cut your yarn
leaving yourself a bit of tail to be worked in later. Continue this all the way around
this one here I am just fiinshing attaching my corner square
just remember to attach your corner pieces as you go
okay I've got all my grannies connected
and I hid all my tails
and made sure to hide all the little tails on my flowers too
and now I am ready to make my border. Now this blanket
is big enough that you don't need so thick of a border
but it's up to you. I try to make my baby blankets where they will fit
the baby the whole time and they're in the crib
so up to two years, two and a half years, something like that
because I have two kids and I know how hard it can be to change the blankets one them
once they have grown attached to it
so this is whyb I try to make one blanket
for the whole time they're there, so that's why it's so big
so just keep this in mind when your looking at it, and thinking "it's so big!"
and that's why
I make all my baby blankets big like this
anyway so
once you have all your squares attached to the center
again because they're going to be using it so long I don't think it will need a big ruffle
border
or something like that
i think just a simple border will be sufficient just to
make it look nice and even it out
so you know when you were doing these grannies squares how
the corners you have the butterfly stitches
and when you were doing your single crochet row that you put two single crochets in the corner
two single crochets here and two single crochets here
and in between is the corner
you want to put
three single crochets in each corner
of this border
so i'm going to do a single crochet attachment right here
in the corner
then i'm going to put two more single crochets in the same stitch
now from
here i'm just going to do single crochet in each stitch working over my tail here
and i'm going to single crochet until i get to the end of my square
when come to a crease where you've sewn
you will have a stitch before and a stitch after
here and here
what I do is a
half double crochet
on this side
and a half double crochet on the other side
it will help to even out that section
I can't tell you the exact count of stitches that you will have
total for this row
because everybody does their attachments
in different places
where they think they're uh...
corner was
so as long as it looks even and looks good then you're fine
i've come to my corner again
with my two single crochets and my other single crochets
for the corner
i'm just going to
go in between those and put three single crochets in the corner
and just continue this around
repeating what we just did
always putting three crochets in the corner and
and when you get to the end
and your back to the beginning again, slip stitch
and this little stitch here
i would recommend doing attaching a different color
do a single crochet attachment
Okay
i decided for my last row i'm going to use my darkest color
and also the little spaces in between where we did our half double crochets
it has left a space where we have the
place sewn here
so i decided is to do a double crochet
into that space
so single crochet into your half double crochet from last round
and then instead of just single crocheting into the next stitch
i'm just going to go down, see there a little stitch at the end where
we sewn our project together
and double crochet
and then just
move on to this one here and single crochet
you just putting a double crochet in between to cover the space
and it leaves a nice little look
and that's it, that has been the tutorial to show you how to make this
puff flower
heart
and flower granny square baby blanket
