Hello and welcome to Todd's kitchen. Now you can buy glitter in most good cake shops.
But you are limited
by how much you can buy in the colours because they can get rather expensive
So i am going to show you a simple and easy way to make it at home and its so cheap
you will never want to buy it again. So join me today as i make my version of edible glitter.
This is incredibly simple and easy to do and you only need two ingredients
one, Caster sugar or super fine sugar and two, your choice of colours
I have seen people use regular sugar and thats fine if you want to do it that way
go for it
but im using super fine sugar or caster sugar simply
because its a much finer grade which makes it more realistic to glitter
this is how simple it is i have a couple of cups of sugar here. Its up to you how much
you want to use
and we are going to just
mix it in. We are just going to continue to mix it in and you can make it
as dark
or as light as you like. So once you have done this one move onto the second then third.
And there we have our three different colours and as i said you can
do as many colors is you like
or any colour that you like. For this next step we are going to use a baking tray
lined with non-stick baking paper. On to that tray just place on our sugar
and we're just going to spread it out
Now that it is all spread out what we are going to do is place this into a
preheated oven at 180 degrees Celsius for 10 minutes and what it's going to do
is bake
that colour into the sugar
They are out of the oven and i have just placed them into some ramekins
You can place them into any container you like of course. But for long term storage
place into a sealed container and they will easily last months and months
I would say around a year because they are just sugar and colouring.
But the big difference is it has been baked in which gives it that glittery look.
Now it is a bit hard to see on the camera but im looking at it right now
and you do get all the glittery effect from the sugar
So even though you can't see it on camera i guarantee you will see it when you make it.
and the best thing about this is it's incredibly cheap to make a home
and you can make as much or as little as you like or what ever colour that you like.
and these will go fantastic on cupcakes, cakes
basically any dessert that you can think of. And by using this home made glitter
on a recipe you have made at home i guarantee its going to taste
delish
so if you want to spruce up some homemade cupcakes for homemade cake
give this homemade glitter ago because I know it'll be fantastic
and as always if you do please put a photo of my facebook page
