Bible and Quran
Are the miracles of Jesus, a proof of his divinity?
Some people say that's not true.
As proof, they call eg Elijah and Mohammed, who allegedly also worked wonders, but they are not God?
But firstly, the Qur'an clearly says that Muhammad has done no miracles (Sura 13:7).
Islamic traditions like Sahih Bukhari contradict the Quran here.
Second, there must be a distinction between the different miracles in the New Testament.
Many miracles are wrought by the disciples of Jesus,
they are first of all a sign of the presence of the kingdom of God (cf. Mt 12:28).
But there can be miracles done by Jesus, that God, in the Old Testament alone is possible of.
In Psalm 89,9.10 God is presented as an incomparable, because he rules over the storms of the sea.
Mighty art thou, Lord, and surrounded by loyalty. You rule the indignation of the sea,
when its waves roar - you straighten it."
Who is like God who can smooth the indignation of the sea.
In the New Testament
They experienced a raging of the sea, as they were traveling by boat.
As the boat filled with water, they called Jesus for help, who then wind and water threatened, so that both were shut (Matt. 8.23 to 26).
The disciples were amazed and said, "What kind of man is that he obey even the winds and the sea?" (Mt 8:27)
Jesus is calming the storm, although Psalm 65 says that this is only possible for God.
Is Jesus God or just a prophet?
The disciples still think he is a "man".
Some time later, Jesus is another miracle and we see progress in the reaction of his disciples.
Jesus runs in Mt 14:28-33 over the water, the disciples fear once, but then they realize it.
Suddenly these Jews , who believe only in God throw down before him and worship him as Son of God:
"The disciples in the boat worshiped Jesus and said, of a truth thou art the Son of God." (Mt 14,33).
And Jesus forbids them neither, to throw down in front of him, nor that they call him the Son of God.
