>> Mike: WInter is one of the most rewarding times to be outdoors. Keeping warm burns loads
of calories and at the end of the day you need to replace them. There are a lot of
freeze dry and pre cooked options and I always keep some in my bag just in case. But to be
honest I prefer something a bit more home cooked,at least on the first night away
from home.
So I asked my lovely wife Gemma if she could show you one of my favourite home cooked
meals, perfect for taking on a winters camping trip.
Measure 200g of Pui Lentils Give them a wash
Add chicken stock Heat for 30 minutes
Giving you time for a drink And to prepare the rest
Chop an onion Then brown a pan
With a splash of white wine vinegar Peel and chop Chorizo
Season with spices to your taste Then add a tin of chopped tomatoes
And ad a healthy dollop of mustard Then stir in the lentils
Finally season with black pepper and add a drop of balsamic vinegar
Freeze what you have left over And it will defrost in your bag whiles you're
out in the hills
