First step is going to centering your clay. I'm going to take my pound and three quarter
for my small salad plate. Throw that right in the middle of the bat head. Now for centering
your left hand is your stabilizer. You want to put your body weight on the splash pan
or put your elbow into your hip. Any way that you can use the weight of your body transfered
through the heel of your hand rather than using the strength of your arms. You want
to get your sponge wet enough so that it's not dripping on it's own but that if you squeeze
it you can get water out of it easily. And your right hand is going to be pushing towards
your left hand and towards the center of the wheel. Pushing in and up. Again, your left
hand is really just stabilizing. The right hand is doing all the work. Make a little
fist and push down and out. And because we're making a plate out of this our centered pad
can be pretty low and flat. And next I'll show you how to actually pull that out into
a plate.
