Innovation within Shell sits at the heart of everything we do.
We have engineers, scientists, R&D centres situated around the globe
searching for the innovations
that will make us the partner of difference.
Working alongside Ferrari has given us many examples of where
we can add innovation and demonstrate it.
Here we are in the assembly line building of Ferrari GT cars.
The machining of our engines came about in 2000
with the new machining department in which
we machine all parts of our engines:
the cylinder, the block, and the crankshaft.
So we have a very long partnership with Shell
and now we've extended the collaboration.
So we use Shell lubricants, also greases, in our machining department.
The choices of lubricants have been made to make sure
that this big machine runs without a stop.
The whole process is one of choreography.
If any of these machines in this factory was to stop
they all stop.
We explain what is needed in the production department
and together with the technical laboratory,
with the Shell technicians, we are able to optimise the lubricant
that Shell is providing us with.
We exchange information; what Shell is able to do, what Ferrari needs
and then we obtain the optimum from the lubricant.
We found that not only downtime was reduced in our machinery,
but indirectly we have also an improvement
in the quality of our pieces.
By working alongside Ferrari, we analyse those needs
alongside the engineers, alongside the machines,
so this level of detail makes us the partner of difference.
