We already talked about at the Yin and the Yang theory how Acupuncture can restore the
Yin and the Yang and achieve the good health. Now, we want to talk about some needles. The
original needles are made of steel and gradually we develop the iron steel, iron needles, then
it's the copper, then it's the silver needles. Silver has an antiseptic, anti-infection effect
but it's too expensive. Now, we use stainless steel, with different size, different length
that depends on which area we apply the acupuncture needles. So we have half inch needles, we
have one inch needles and we have 1.5 needles. And we also have different size of needles.
This is the thickest needle I use in my practice. And then there is needles for face which is
extremely thin like hair. This the red needles we use for facial rejuvenation or any points
on the face because we don't want to cause so much bruises. If the size is very small,
there's less chance to have bruises. So what size and what length that we choose, depends
on different body parts. For instance, on the back of the patients, there's not so much
tissues there, so we only use a one inch needles insert of .5 with forty five degrees angle
instead of straight. But, on the hip, because we have so much muscle there, we can use two-inch,
even three inches, depends on how heavy this person is. That's the needle size and the
length.
