Hello my name is Laura Bliss. I've been a nail technician for the past 12 years now.
I'm currently teaching at the London College of Beauty Therapy.
I'm going to show you how to remove gel. First of all, if it's over tips, then take down
as much tip as you can with tip cutters and then start buffing. You can get soak off gels
that will soak off in acetone, but they're not strong enough for extensions.
So if it's over extensions the only way to take it off is with a file. So just keep going
over with your file. Keep moving your file at all times so you're not creating a burning
sensation for your client, and just keep removing the dust so you can tell how near to the natural
nail you are.
Obviously you're going to damage the natural nail if you start filing it so you need to
really make sure you keep checking to how far down you're going. So just keep filing
and removing the dust so can see how near you're getting. Getting quite near to the
natural nail because you can see the grooves in it, and the dust changes as well.
There's a lot of dust from gel, so when that starts going you know that you're on the natural
nail. Okay so just be really careful when you've got the final layer left on the nail.
And then just lightly go over it with your white block.
And then your three way buffer just to take out any scratches in the nail. That's how
you remove gel.
