Hi, my name is Frank Huijsmans. I am a Master IPC Trainer for PIEK International Education
Centre and one of the trainings in our portfolio is the IPC-A-600 training. The IPC-A-600 is
a document which gives us the acceptance criteria for bare boards. One of the criteria in this
document we find in clause 2.10.1.1. This are the criteria for conductor width. Conductor
width is a very important parameter for bare boards and if you look in detail in the clause
2.10.1.1 you'll find that for class 2 and 3 the conductor width reduction caused by
edge roughness, nicks or scratches etcetera can be no more than 20% of the minimal conductor
width. Where do you find this minimal value specified. Maybe in the documentation from
your customer like for instance the contract or his drawings in Gerber files or ODB++ format
perhaps. Or if nothing is specified in there maybe you will have to use the criteria from
another document from IPC, this is the IPC 6012, the latest version is the C-version,
and these are the performance specifications for bare boards. These kind of details, if
you want to have more information on it, please join us in one of trainings. Like one of the
IPC-A-600 trainings. Information on our training programs you can find on our website.
