Today I am going to show you how to make to different area rugs made from recycled blue
jeans. Turn your old favorite jeans into something new! Jeans can also be found in second hand
or thrift stores very inexpensively. I will show you how to make this braided rug. It
requires no machine sewing. I'll show you how to that you can sew it by hand or I'll
even show you a method that requires no needle and thread. I'll also show you this shaggy
rug that requires simple sewing machine sewing. These are the materials we'll be using to
make our braided recycled jeans rugs. You will need about 4 or 5 pairs of old blue jeans.
You'll need a good strong pair of scissors. I'm going to show you two methods of putting
the rug together. One that you will need a nice strong twine. I'm using a natural hemp
twine that's very strong. Or some carpet thread and a needle. You want to make sure the needle
has a big enough hole for the carpet thread. And the needle is sharp enough and goes through
the heavy fabric of denim easily. So you might want to try a few different needles to see
which one is best. You might need a small pair of snips. If you are going to put the
rug together with the twine instead of sewing it together, then you will need a Popsicle
stick. And then it's good to have a safety pin for holding it in place while you cut
new strips.
