>> DOUG JENSEN: Welcome to Smarty Pantz Studios. I am Doug Jensen, Studio Manager. Let's go

>> DANNY LUNDT: We employ numerous visual techniques and tricks such as shadows, particle
effects, articulated characters. We even articulate down to their fingers and their eyes to help
portray a sense of reality and realism to our trainees as they go through the
training experience.
>> SERGE O.: Training is needed for identifying suspicious behavior within crowds. Creating
a virtual reality system to provide this training yields more consistent and quantifiable results
compared to using live actors, while at a significantly reduced cost. The model is scalable
from a handfull of people to several thousand. This provides the necessary backdrop for human
behavior observational training needed in a number of applications. Individual avatars
in the scene performing scenario-specific activities are always crowd-aware and vice
versa. Individuals initiating a threat can blend in and out of the crowd when performing
their activities. Crowds can gradually avoid areas and impending threats as they sense
something is wrong. These subtle visual cues are exactly the kind of information upon which
today's security personnel need to hone their skills.
