Pentek ECP1-BB Pleated Cellulose Sediment Filter
Hey everyone, Aquaman here with FilterDoctor.com. Today we’re looking at the Pentek ECP1-BB.
This is an industry standard size cartridge, approximately 10 inches long by 4 ½ inches
in diameter, which means it’s going to fit into a vast array of industry standard size
filter housings, like for example, the popular Pentek HD-950 that you see here.
Now, the ECP1-BB is a 1 micron, pleated, polyester reinforced cellulose. Now, this polyester
reinforcing makes the cartridge slightly more durable than other manufacturers that use
a straight cellulose. Cellulose is not appropriate for untreated
water sources because microorganisms can live and grow on this media. So it’s only appropriate
for water that’s been chlorinated, ozonated, uv’ed or that you’re otherwise confident
does not have microorganisms living and growing in it.
Now, 1 micron is extremely tight. That’s twenty five times smaller than a speck of
milled flour, so it’s the perfect choice for extra fine sediment. Though, be warned,
you should probably be pre-filtering before this with something like a 25 or a 50 micron
cartridge, otherwise the large particles will tend to clog the filter long before it otherwise
would need to be clogged. Now, determining filter life is difficult,
because it really depends on your unique circumstances. If you have a heavy load of sediment and you
use a great deal of water, you’re certainly going to go through the cartridge faster than
someone who doesn’t have much sediment and isn’t using much water. You’re probably
going to have to install one and simply learn from experience approximately how long they’re
good for or how many gallons they last. Again, this is the Pentek ECP1-BB, a 1 micron,
pleated, polyester reinforced cellulose sediment filter.
I’m your host Aquaman with FilterDoctor.com. Thanks for watching.
