Why do women love shoes and handbags? I've seen girls who have more shoes than dresses,
and more handbags than tops.
Shoes and handbags are one way you can personalize your formal attire, whether for an evening
out or your professional wardrobe. They can mandate a knee length dress or skirt and blouse,
but only you can choose your shoes.
Unless the company says you can't have sandals or flip-flops because they aren't professional
enough. Or if they mandate close toed shoes to protect your feet.
That's why handbags are so popular.
I've heard that there are women who rent brand name handbags by the week.
There are several websites and stores that let you rent designer handbags. You rent it
for perhaps $50 to $100 a week.
That seems like a waste of money.
It is cheaper to rent various handbags than spend $500 to $1000 per handbag and buy new
ones regularly.
Can you rent shoes?
Oh, heck no. That would be disgusting.
But other people put their hair brushes, cell phones, snacks and even pets in a handbag.
You don't find that disgusting.
To answer your question, shoes and handbags are more acceptable forms of showing your
style than provocative dresses, wild hair styles and bizarre clothing styles.
You'd rather where a normal looking dress and carry a wild handbag or wear bright red
shoes than wear a muu-muu or toga to work.
There's another advantage to these accessories. I can hide my shoes under my desk if they
are laughed at, and my handbag is easily concealed in a drawer at work.
So if you have too much style, you can hide it.
It is a fashion statement that isn't too loud in the workplace.
It's the equivalent of the ugly ties guys wear sometimes.
Guys might wear ugly ties, but girls won't buy shoes that look bad on her feet. And a
well-made handbag will last a lot longer than a tie that ought to get cut off when you go
into a fancy restaurant.
Trailblazer Steakhouse, I think, actually does that on Ugly Tie Fridays.
That's only an indictment of men's taste, not girl's fashion statements.
