Hi and welcome to Chico State
I’m Walter. And I’m Jessica
and together we’d like to share with you
our beautiful campus.
Founded in 1887, Chico State rests on
on 119 acres located just steps away from downtown Chico.
With majestic shade trees, landscaped lawns,
and Big Chico Creek running through campus,
our students enjoy a connection to nature every day.
To complement this amazing environment,
brick Romanesque architecture can be seen throughout the campus.
A grand example of this is Kendall Hall.
Built in 1929, Kendall Hall houses the presidents,
provost’s, and other administrative offices and departments.
Our school motto can be found above the main entrance
“Today Decides Tomorrow.”
Completed in 1933, Trinity Hall houses
faculty offices, the religious studies
and foreign language departments
as well as one of our nine campus art galleries.
The bell tower chimes on the hour and half hour.
Trinity’s adjacent rose garden
boasts an extensive collection and has been allowing
our students to “stop and smell the roses”
since nineteen fifty seven
Laxson Auditorium is our largest theater, seating 1200 people.
It’s a place where authors, world leaders,
and other distinguished guests take center stage.
Hosting performances produced and performed
by Chico State students.
Laxson Auditorium is a central part of both
the Chico community and University.
Built in 1974,
Meriam Library houses over one million volumes
and a wide variety of research materials,
government documents,
Periodicals, maps and other materials.
for student access.
With three computer labs, study group areas,
and a copy center
Meriam Library is research central for every student.
The Bell Memorial Union, or BMU
houses the Associated Students and Student Activities offices.
Built in 2001, the BMU is owned and operated
by our Associated Students and run by our student government.
The BMU provides many services, including two computer labs,
the Marketplace Café, bookstore,
Common Grounds study area, conference rooms
and many more.
The BMU is a big part of Chico State daily life.
Designed as a courtyard building
the Student Services Center houses
26 student service programs in a warm,
daylight-filled environment.
Built in 2008, the Student Services Center
acts as a one-stop spot for all things
our students might need.
From admissions to financial aid,
you’ll get all the answers in one place.
It’s important to note that our Student Services Center
was designed to meet our University’s sustainability goals
while reflecting the architectural tradition of the campus.
In 2009, the Wildcat Recreation Center, or WREC,
opened its doors.
This amazing facility features state-of-the-art equipment,
indoor basketball courts,
outdoor pool and hot tub, and even a climbing wall.
The WREC offers Chico State students
the very best in recreation.
You’ll have fun and stay fit
when you visit the Wildcat Recreation Center.
We’ve shared a quick glimpse of our campus
and we hope you get a sense of
of what a special place Chico State is.
When you visit our campus you’ll experience
a great feeling
that lets you know you’re in a place where history is made
and history is honored.
We’d like to invite you to visit and experience
Chico State for yourself
and remember
“Today Decides Tomorrow.”
