Working with cultural heritage gives you a feeling of what?
Freedom. Because you care about that you think it is yours.
Do you think everybody thinks this exactly as you do?
Why there are these antique houses? Some people call by old houses.
Why all those fully filled stone-streets that make us walk on them so hard?
After all, What heritage is that?
I am my own identy...
the one who builds the life...
heritage of myself.
Eletrocooperativa in action
Brazilian, owner of my memories...
And this is the popular wisdom's heritage
...that I read on the walls of the walls and I saw in the townhouses,
frames, pictures of a big house.
The wisdom of a people who transform the past into a path, source, culture and care.
Heritage of emotion.
Have you ever already imagined yourselves without memory?
Whithout memory you are nothing!
Because what it make us to become one capable of acting,
having courage of participate in colectivity, it is the memory.
Therefore, It is very valueable you have conciousness of who you are.
Absolutely! But I am, I am tumbled, I am an only child.
I have eight brothers, but I am the unique woman in the family, though.
Something that has an collective meaning
and we admit that is important for us as a social being,
then that becomes a heritage.
Memory is a thing of the future.
In my society I can contribute with a pro-active action, like that you do here at Eletrocooperativa.
And What is the Eletrocooperativa?
Traces agonize all the pulse on my mind, be a black, red, white, brown or african kind,
from events that happen in the tunnel of my past,
if they want me dead, have chosen the wrong chest.
I am crazy, really? I just know, so what?
So you go dreaming about the Samba street' spot.
Concious little child who lives in you,
take the dream to your life, so you can reach so high.
Walk on the pure answers you've got right now to say,
get deaf from the sadness of silence that goes away.
The human being reclycling his history,
without forgeting the role in his memory.
The human being reclycling his history,
without forgeting the role in his memory.
What kind of work are you doing?
We work with young people aged between 16 and 24 years old.
And now, we are working with audio and video
catching some images on the street for making a video,
and put it on the Net, I mean, on the Internet.
Do you know what is heritage? I don't know.
My greatest heritage, It is my son!
It is my son!
We have to give the assignmet of value to the human being.
And Africa is human heritage.
I was born there.
I am here in Brazil, now. I am a heritage.
So, if that is the human being who produces patrimony,
because one has cultural values, one forms cultural values,
then we are who created it for us to use it,
but not always we are who use it.
Most of the brazilian people are not cutural literate.
I never have studied. I don't even know to write down my name.
Imaterial heritage is that capability that we have to sing,
to compose songs, to make poetry, to pray, to have faithness,
to believe in something, to do rituals, isn't?
So, that is the reason...
This here is a culture, a thing, so you see people came here from other countries to see this,
to see beautiful things.
Some people look at us and they say: beautiful, good things,
when we are taking off the garbage, doing things.
People praise us saying: Yes, all you are doing a good job.
Do you think Amaz獼ia should be considered a global heritage?
Amaz獼ia is a global heritage because
inside of It has many species of wild fauna and flora there.
I am from Bahia, I am a person that has miscegenation.
I am one people from inside of pelourinho,
then I consider myself a patrimony.
But this is the only gift that I have, It is the pliers.
The greatest heritage that I have on the earth, It is God.
The gift of God.
Did you understand more or less what is heritage now? I know... I know...
We're going to the street to do this job, in a collective way,
having attitude, in high level...
in spiritual growth, and in moral values, got it? It us!
We're here at "Barroquinha", in the "Couro" street,
Today we're making some takes
with the guys' testimonials
I authorize my image for Eletrocooperativa.
Thank you, very much!
