The vines here are quite old: about 60 years old.
We have 4 hectares: 2 of Muscadelle stock and 2 of Semillon.
The Muscadelle is quite uncommon in the Bordeaux area;
we usually have 5-10%,
whereas here it’s 50%, hence this quite unique fruit taste.
We also find it in the fermentation aromas:
exotic tastes, such as vanilla …
But for the Semillon, they will be of citrus fruit, grapefruit …
As we are situated uphill, the ground gets dry very quickly and is very well drained.
As it is also quite windy, the grapes dry easily,
so we get a satisfactory sugar concentration on this plot of land.
Here the soil is really limestone.
Above it, you find clay, and yet again, on top, we have gravel: little white stones.
They originate in the Pyrenees,
were rolled down from the mountain by the River Garonne some thousand years ago,
and ended here.
We do have a unique soil where we produce great grapes;
the first to identify these soils were the Romans.
