I am Goh Kong Peng and I am 48.
I am a senior private banker with Coutts.
As a private banker, my job is to help high net worth individuals with their wealth management needs and working with my colleagues in the bank to offer solutions.
It is very important to build relationships with the customers.
Investment and banking knowledge is a must, but the chemistry between the person and also to read the person’s mind is actually very important to me.
I enjoy interacting with my customers, getting to know them while on work and their interests outside of work.
You have to create conversations with the customers for them to tell you more about what they want, in order for you to provide better solutions.
If they don’t talk, you won’t know.
So, to be a private banker, it is very important to be a very good listener.
I always enjoy good food.
I look for good food anywhere in Singapore or even when I travel.
Usually, that is the way that I understand their cultures.
In Singapore, I enjoy Japanese food, I enjoy Indian food and I love Italian food.
I do have customers who actually email me or sms me, asking me where to go for breakfast, where to go for lunch, where is the best French restaurant in Singapore.
Coutts is very supportive of work life balance.
They respect and trust us to manage our own time, whether for work or to pursue our interests outside work.
I have been with RBS for 15 years and this is a fantastic place to work in.
