Hi, my name is Rachel McMillen, and I'm the
Career Resource Center coordinator. We're located in the upper CC mall area, adjacent
to the River City Cafe . We're in the same space as the Counseling, Advising, and Testing
offices. Essentially, the Career Resource Center is available for all of your students,
whether they are totally undecided, mildly unsure, or very clear about their future careers.
Students who are totally undecided about their career plans may benefit from taking one of
our computerized career assessments to help them clarify their interests, values, and
abilities. Peer advisors work with students to consider different majors and career options,
based on their assessment results. We can help students who are mildly unsure of their
career goals research the majors or careers they are considering. They use both online
and print materials, often with the help of peer advisors. We also help students with
very clear career goals prepare to be competitive job seekers. We help them write effective
resumes and cover letters and prepare for interviewing. You can send individual students
to the Career Center, or we can come and visit your class. Contact us to develop a Career
Planning Workshop customized for your class needs. In fact, if you need to be away from
your class, don t cancel it. Call the Career Center instead, and we ll provide a customized
workshop for your students.
