The Te Ara Tu Atea Trust Board are hoping for a response
from Crown ministers regarding their claim
which they submitted in September,
but they are yet to receive a response or confirmation.
According to Piripi Walker, Te Ara Tu Atea has been waiting one year
for a response or confirmation from the Crown regarding their claim.
The concern is that another year will pass
without hearing from or receiving confirmation from the Crown
regarding their claim.
Another member of Te Ara Tu Atea urges Maori to be alert
to the Crown's movements as they could be left behind.
Maori organisations submitted their claims
to the Crown for the spectrum,
in the belief that it is an inherent taonga under the Treaty of Waitangi.
Te Ara Tu Atea hope to receive an honest response from the Crown.
We truly hope that our Treaty partners don't do that to them.
If there is an issue that needs sorting
then it should be discussed amongst the Treaty partners.
One of the main concerns of Maori organisations
is the thought that the Ministry of Economics will begin selling
the Maori spectrum as it is not being fully utilised.
