>>> DR. JAY K. HARNESS: Radiation therapy involves typically a linear accelerator that
gives radiation to a targeted area. We typically give it in little, tiny (they are called ‘fractions’),
given for a few minutes at a time, designed to kill cancer cells yet we give them in small
enough fractions that the normal tissue can heal up. And so radiation therapy is also
an adjunctive therapy. It’s typically given in addition to primary therapy which is usually
surgery.
