Hi guys this is going to be the tutorial that's going to show you how to make
the riptide scarf
and i'm making this because someone recommended
I make a scarf to match my Riptide beanie
so
i'll give the link to the Riptide beanie here
and if you want make it
and also make a scarf to go with it
i recommend to make it just like the way I will show you in the tutorial
that way all the riptides will be facing the right way
but if you want make this
style scarf
not to match the beanie
you have the option to
make it the long way
so recommend chaining about a hundred and fifty
or however long or short that you want it
and then you can do
the same pattern be going
the long way of the scarf
but for this tutorial i'll be showing you how to
to do this effect on a scarf
so
what you need is a five-millimeter hook or a size H hook for the US
and some worsted weight yarn, if you're making this with the riptide beanie i recommend
using
the medium
worsted weight yarn
size four ply for the US, ten ply for australia, but if your not making it with the beanie
but just on it's own, you can make this with eight ply yarn if you like
or three ply for the US
but if you've made the beanie I recommend using the same yarn for a set
so what you need
first off
make your slipknot leaving yourself a longer tail to be worked
into the scarf later
or add it into the fringe later if your adding some
or add it to the tassel
because if you leave just a small tail
here it can be difficult to hide
so it's best to start your slip knot like this
let me get closer
now to start off you want to chain twenty-two
also if you have have a little marker, if your a beginner I recommend
getting another small piece of yarn of another color
because you will need to mark your first stitch in a minute
Counting... sixty ten twelve thirteen
fifteen
sixteen seventeen Counting...
Counting... twenty-two
now to begin
we wanna skip
the first three chains
and do a double crochet into the fourth chain from the hook
and these three chains that your skipping now
will be the counted as the first stitch
and this double crochet your making will be counted as the second stitch
the chain three can be difficult to see
one, two and three
and later you may forget to
do a double crochet in it
in round two so i recommend going into that top
of the
third chain
and put a
marker there
to remind yourself that that is a stitch
okay, so that's two
we need a total of twenty stitches so continue double crocheting down
your chain
for the remaining eighteen stitches and at the end you'll have
count to make sure, that at the end you will have twenty stitches
and i'll see you when you get
to the end of your row
okay I just got to the end of my row
and
at the end
you want to chain one and turn
now, the very first and very last stitch
of your row, you will always do a double crochet
so the first
stitch, do a double crochet
now for all the middle stitches
you're going to be doing a
front post
double crochet
so you want to go in and grabd that post
and do a double crochet
again, go into your next stitch
grab up that post and do a double crochet
go in
push that post forward
and using this as your stitch
instead of going in through a regular stitch your grabbing up your post
just continue your Front post double crochets
until you get to your last stitch of the row
where you want to double crochet
so i'll see you back here in a moment
okay i'm coming up to my last two stitches
remember you have your marker here
to mark the top of that stitch
you want to be double crochet in this top
of the chain three
now you can remove the marker
chain one
and turn
now you can start to see the effect
starting to happen
so you chain one and you do a double crochet in this first stitch
and then again you're going to go in
using the second post
of the row
and start your
front post
double crochets
and then when you get to the very last stitch of this round
again you do
a double crochet
okay I am at the last stitch of my row
make sure that you go under both
both
loops of the stitch
and do a double crochet
and again
chain one and turn
now you can see on this side
has a line
this side here
has it down here at the bottom
and now you're about to do it and it's about to start on the side too
this side already has two
evenually you're going to get both sides looking like this
it's just that simple
and that's it, that is how you make the Riptide scarf
i hope that this
has been helpful and easy for you to understand
and i'm going to have this pattern on my site if you need pictures and
stuff
and that's it
