I did come to Milwaukee wanting to become a police officer, and about 2 years into it
I got offered the job working as a peer adviser here at the Helen Bader School of Social Welfare.
I've been here for the last 4 years going through the criminal justice program and I
like the students that come in to see me, they can connect with me a lot more than if
the would go and meet with a normal adviser. I represent the Helen Bader School of Social
Welfare at what we like to call preview days. They're a chance for students in high school,
mostly juniors and seniors, to come and see what the campus is all about. And then when
they come and visit with me I tell them are you interested in criminal justice? Are you
interested in social work? And if they are, great I'll tell them more information about
it. If they're not I'll talk to them about just college life in general. My name is Elliott
Nytes and I am a senior in the criminal justice program at UW-Milwaukee.
