NARRATOR: This video covers basic tips
for riding properly in an adult seat belt
in the back seat of your vehicle.
For a child to properly fit in a seat belt,
he or she must be tall enough to sit without slouching.
Keep the child's back against the vehicle seat back,
keep knees naturally bent over the edge of the vehicle seat,
and keep feet flat on the floor.
The lap belt must fit snugly
low on the hips, not the stomach.
The shoulder belt should lie snug
across the shoulder and chest,
and not across the neck or face.
Never let your child put the shoulder belt under their arm
or behind their back,
because it could cause severe injuries in a crash.
Your child should always sit in the back seat of your vehicle.
Your child is now secure and ready to go.
