This tutorial should help you to install your CycloDS iEvolution. Technically you can update it this way, too but there is no update for the card.
In addition, you can update your iEvo directly into the DSi mode (which is necessary if your DSi is on the Firmware 1.4.3). It doesn't support higher FWs.
You need two ROMs to create a Bootstrap (you can find the name in the description, but no link), an update dongle and a MicroSD card in addition to the iEvo.
You have to download the Bootstrap generation tool. You have to download the generation tool for your region (only USA and EUR are supported for the DSi mode).
In addition, you need the firmware and you can download moonshell optionally (moonshell is a multimedia player).
I'll drag the tool and the firmware to the desktop and you don't need Moonshell yet.
First I we have to create the Bootstrap. You need the *.cfg, the *.bin and the *.exe file from the archive for that.
You can't download the game for the DSi mode since there is no public dumper available.
I had to download the files for this video. I'll put a link to a bootstrap into the description if I find one but I won't upload a bootstrap myself because that's illegal.
You have to select three files after you started the *.exe: -the "Source firmware": the *.bin file -the "DS Lite ROM": the rom for the DS mode -the "DSi ROM": the rom for the DSi mode
After pressing "Process", there will be a new file called "BOOTUPDT.EVO". You have to copy it to the SD card.
You should format your MicroSD to avoid a bricked iEvo. It's suggested to backup important files first.
The "BOOTUPDT.EVO" has to be copied into the root of your MicroSD (that means without subfolders).
The updater has to be plugged into a USB port (you can use a charger, too since we only need the energy).
It's possible to use a DS, too but that's not suggested and that could destroy your iEvo.
The iEvo has to be plugged into the updater.
You can plug the MicroSD into the iEvo if the red LED turns on. It'll go out short after that.
Some minutes later...
You can take the iEvo out of the updater when the LED turns on again.
The MicroSD has to be plugged again into the computer.
Now the update file can be deleted. You shouldn't use the iEvo in the meantime because it could be bricked if you break the update process.
You can copy the boot.evo file into the root of your MicroSD (again: no subfolders).
In addition, you can extract the "moonshl2" folder from the "moonshell-ievo-2.10" archive if you want to have a media player instead of the bookmarks at the menu point in the center.
Now the iEvo installation is finished.
You can select a language at the first start. Don't expect good translations!
Moonshell works, too.
Now I'll show you how you can boot the iEvo directly into the DSi mode.
The "BOOTUPDT.EVO" has to be edited with a HEX-Editor.
I use the Hexeditor MX and you can find one with Google.
First you have to open the "BOOTUPDT.EVO" with the editor.
You have to subtract 3 from the first byte (the result is 02 for me).
You have to add 3 at the last bit (the result is 46 for me).
The flashcard won't work with your DS Lite until you changed the mode again. Now you have to flash the Bootstrap again to your iEvo.
You have to start with the alphabet if you reach a number higher than 7 (that means that you have to enter "B" if your current number is "9".
Feel free to ask me anything in the comments.
