Everything has to be hands on. You can't learn how to do these things and really appreciate
even the basic science behind these, without actually getting involved, and so we try to
create
an enviroment that is very similar to what they're going to be preparing for in the industry.
The Met Bio is an organization that we work with and it's in the beef cattle industry.
Pilgrim's Pride, we've developed relationships with them. Priefert, who also builds saws
and
different equipment. We do everything we can to try to get that direct interaction with,
as much
as posible with the students. To be able to find those students, especially in Intro to
Hort
class, that come in her and realize, her, this is something really you can do. This
is something
you can actually make a career out of. It's a really rewarding experience to see somebody
introduced
to a field that allows them to grow into a very successful and productive, not only student,
but employee later.
