Hey, I'm Mattias from Free Fall, and this is my guitar rig, at least some of the stuff that I use.
Here we have two HiWatt amps from the seventies. I love those amps, they're really well built.
Mostly I use them live, because I mean they have a lot of power and you can also get a
really clean sound, and loud sound with two Hiwatt amps, and also a very brutal and raw
sound, so I like to I mean, to be able to have both.
For free fall, I mainly use these 2 guitars and this stratocaster custom built,
custom shop stratocaster. Those two are Eric Clapton model stratocasters, this one is from '88,
and this one is from '96. But, originally there was Lace Sensor pickups, but i'm not
a huge fan of the Lace Sensor sound because it sounds too polished, so I changed the pickups
in both of them. So, in this one we have sixties stratocaster pickups that was built by a Swedish
guy who makes great pickups. In this one I have the fifties model from the same guy.
Here we have a mid boost control, so I can get this, if I turn it down to zero I can
get a clean sound and if I turn it up it distorts a lot. It boosts the signal about 25DB actually.
In the studio i've been using this fender twin reverb from 1970, because I tried a lot
of amps, while recording the Free Fall album, but the twin reverb, that sound I couldn't
really, it sounded very original and it had some life to it that I couldn't get with any
other amp. I tried old Marshalls, Vox, the HiWatt amps, but it didn't work as well as this one.
So I played, I played more or less straight through that. Sometimes, I used the
first model of the tube screamer, the green TS-808. But it's not mine, I borrowed Martin
the producers, he had some great stuff in the studio.
