In PATOKAI i do what i call Electro Sci Fi
mixing different types of electronic music with a science fiction universe
The idea was to bring out this character
That like all characters, or like in books, you wanted or not, they have a part of you and it end up being autobiographical
Actually I have always been in a band or making music
Not necessarily electronic music
A friend of mine, a sensei, one of those sensei of life,
he make me listen to Hardfloor, and a couple of months or a year later i think, he took to an afterhour called K2
it was a very dark basement club, with electronic music, and the Urban Groove was playing there, I was in heaven!
Anyhow this friend of mine taught me a lot about electronic music
Then The Prodigy and the Chemical Brothers came, that music that blow your head out
In a moment there was the need to start making electronic music
with the last bands that i had before Patokai, we were already making something that behave like electronic music, but played from the rock side
but that was because the instruments we had were guitars, and other elements of rock, but actually we wanted to make the guitar sound like a synthesizer,
but actually what i was looking for was a synthetizer sound..
With Plenilunio I started to make my first experiences in electronics production
primarily with digital platforms such as Reason and Ableton
I started to learn the full range of sounds that there were
and there it began the birth of the firsts Patokai´s tracks
Patokai - Control (Live on Rec and Destroy)
The idea was like the Killerdrumz party did
with our event called CIRCO ELÉCTRICO we wanted to create a place for those electro artists who couldn´t find their place in the world.
We didn´t have places in Argentina where to express what we wanted to do and feel comfortable doing it.
I don´t know, if we try to do somenthing in places where rock was played we were too electronic to play there,
or if we try to do an event on a discoteque, a typical electronic nightclub they told us that we were too rockers to play there.
or if we try to do an event on a discoteque, a typical electronic nightclubs they told us that we were too rockers to play there.
That's how CIRCO ELÉCTRICO was born , a place for the art that Patokai was doing
and all the artists around Patokai, such as The Charlie's Jacket, Chico Ninguno, Quemada con Flash, Lesbiano.
To have a place to express yourself, and do it in its highest level.
Change the look of the places where we do our parties,
and that people could have another interaction there besides of only been dancing
express ideas with other resources
with a touch of science fiction, retrofuturism
try to show the full palette of colors of the different formats of electronic music,
and to show the different styles of electronic music, from experimental electronic music,
glitch, drum n bass, dubstep, electro, electropop, electroclash, digital cumbia.
And because of CIRCO ELÉCTRICO, we met Joel Hurtado Portella, a friend of the cyberspace,
and through him we organized the GLOBAL CYBER DAY STREAMING
a live transmission commemorating the 29 years of William Gibson´s novel "Neuromancer".
by putting together all the mutant electronic musicians of the underground, or a big part of them, that we like these sci fi movements
and shaping it into a live transmission
Patokai - Cross the line (Live on Global Cyber Day Argentina Streaming)
This is the last song called B.A. Trash
I hope we have more nights of Buenos Aires Global Trash.
